Darren, Trump himself can hold a press conference any time he wants and read out loud what the Feds were there for. Then the FBI wouldn’t have to explain anything really.

FBI: “Er, no.”

Shocking because Trump is such a pillar of lawful behavior?
Comment by Big Dipper Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 4:53 pm
I am sorry, Darren, but they did not find a winning strategy for your race in Trump’s safe.
Comment by Montrose Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 4:53 pm
Just ask Trump to release a copy of the warrant and the receipt of what was seized.

I’m sure Pritzker’s Crew will help Bailey amplify his (Bailey’s) thoughts on the cult leader’s legal woes.
Rod saw things like all that went down yesterday… as an up day.

Trump can always release the search warrant./ sn

Whack job talk radio was rattling around on this outrage and then Buck Sexton mentioned Trump should have copy of search warrant and THEY could release
Comment by Annonin' Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 4:58 pm
being the conspiracy theorist that I am. maybe this is a ploy by the Dems to let Trumps ego get him to announce his presidential bid. prolly the only way Dems hold onto the house in next general.
Comment by Blue Dog Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 5:08 pm
Latest Wall Street Journal reporting is that the DOJ didn’t believe Trump had really turned over all the classified material he took with him to Mar a Lago. So they went back for more of it. Assuming they found what they thought was there, this does not strike me as a world-shattering crisis, just Trump discovering he’s a private citizen again and he can’t just blatantly disregard federal laws the way he once could.

The explanation will be in the indictment Mr. Bailey.

Hehe, old school
I didn’t realize the constitution didn’t apply to former presidents and yes Trump could put all the guess work to rest by releasing the warrant and itemized list of articles confiscated if there were any. I won’t hold my breath.

Reporters need to ask Mr. Bailey if he supports the Defund the Police (FBI) movement that many of his GOP elected officials do now. I’m guessing Mr. Bailey wants to Defund the FBI and DOJ now.
Comment by Hot Taeks Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 5:26 pm
Bailey’s “thoughts’ on the raid were very predictable. So was his shot at Pritzker. I mean, any god fearing christian would do the same. /s
Trump can end the speculation in minutes if he wanted to. He doesn’t. He loves the attention.
Comment by JS Mill Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 5:29 pm
Now the former president is using the search warrant as a means as a fundraiser as usual.
Agents had a warrant approved by a federal judge and it was served. End of story.

“Anyone under investigation by the FBI does not deserve to be president”. - Donald Trump, many many times.

But also not shocking for millions of Americans.
Comment by XonXoff Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 5:42 pm
FBI: Trump has needed to go to jail since the 80’s
Bailey: Fair enough. Thanks.
Anything other than that is beyond worthless to me.
Comment by Lurker Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 5:48 pm
MAGA GOP philosophy: The FBI and DOJ can only investigate Dem politicians. MAGA pols are off limit.
Comment by Norseman Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 6:13 pm
Does Bailey really think that embracing Trump ever tighter is a good general election strategy?
Comment by Tominchicago Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 6:20 pm
MAGA world is shouting, “defund the FBI.”
So now Dems can campaign on the MAGA GOP’s desire to let terrorists murder our citizens, permit China to freely spy on Americans and steal our technology … Just think of all the things that won’t get investigated because MAGA wants to protect Der Leader from any legal review.
Comment by Norseman Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 6:21 pm
=The FBI must immediately explain their actions and provide clarity on the situation.=
The FBI tends to be pretty closed lipped about these things. But whether the target is Mike Madigan or Donald Trump the obvious explanation is the same. The FBI thinks a crime may have been committed and they’re investigating it. Now usually Republicans will immediately jump to a presumption of guilt (back the blue). And in this instance there’s a lot of available information that would support such a conclusion. But for whatever reason they seemed to be going soft on crime.

This is one American who is shocked that it didn’t happen sooner.
Comment by G'Kar Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 7:03 pm
Back in early June when the possibility of a Trump endorsement being thrown Bailey’s way was being kicked around, a lot of folks said it would never happen and that there was no benefit for Trump. I believed at the time, and still do, that Trump needed support wherever he could find it. Because I knew there would come a time when he needed full throated unequivocal defenders. That time may be upon us. And Bailey went all in on the former President. There’s no turning back at this point.
I don’t imagine that Richard Irvin would have had this problem. But we know how Republican voters feel about Richard Irvin.
Comment by Pundent Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 7:10 pm
I don’t think they usually comment too much about ongoing investigations, Darren.
Comment by Correcting Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 7:22 pm
You mean the FBI with the Director TRUMP appointed? the guy who previously prosecuted a Democrat for documents issues as is being discussed now with Trump? No YOU explain that.
Comment by Amalia Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 7:43 pm
=Wait, how can I tie Trump to Illinois so we can still talk about it?=
Thank Darren Bailey for that. He could have stayed silent on the topic. He chose not to. Defending a President who lost the state by 17 points the day after his home was raided by the feds wouldn’t be my call, but I’m not advising Darren Bailey.
Comment by Pundent Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 7:59 pm

Yes, Darren, it is shocking to find out your idol is suspected of being a crook. Some of us knew it already.

Wondering why you never capitalize “God” and “Christian” in your posts? That seems akin to those who refer to the “Democrat Party”.

I love political raids and prosecutions. I get all misty eyed remembering the life I led before fleeing to America as a political asylee. #Memories
Comment by Asylee Tuesday, Aug 9, 22 @ 10:57 pm
You would think the law and order party would understand that No one is above the law. Not Nixon and not Trump. Watergate played our very differently than Maralogo-gate. Trump said the FBI lay siege to his home. I don’t think that word means what he thinks it does. Jan 6 was an example of laying siege.

My brother in christ, keep your prosecution complex to yourself.
Which God/gods specifically?
Also, the difference between “Big C” and “Little C” christian says more about your relationship with christ than you mean it too.
