The fair has been great this year. Best that I can remember. It helps that the weather was perfect when we went Monday, and the forecast calls for more great weather this week. So try to make it out there if you can.

Glad to hear Willie still sounds good… I went to Riverport to see him in 2019 on my See Them Before They’re Gone Tour (also including The Who, Peter Frampton, Steely Dan and others).

Where exactly is Bailey from? I’ve seen Xenia, Louisville, Clay City… does he not have one single hometown we can all agree on?

Would have like to have gone to see Willie, but it’s too far away. Fortunately, the Decemberists were playing at the Chicago Theater; they put on a fantastic show.

Willie is still the G.O.A.T. A National Treasure.
I was on the track at the front. I appreciate the state police keeping a watchful eye on the crowd. The folks around me not only behaved well, but were cordial to one another, with very few exceptions. That exceeded my expectations.

I expected to see Willy pushed out in a wheelchair and wheezing a few lyrics as background to the rest of the band. Instead, he strolled out, strapped on his guitar and played an 80-minute non-stop set that showcased a still-strong voice and amazing guitar picking, with his son as back-up. Totally exceeded my expectations and so glad he came back to the fair after a 21-year hiatus!

As I was walking onto the track last night, it looked and felt like I was being swarmed by several state troopers. I was with three other people who said they thought the same thing. We all had a good laugh about it. They were definitely present and visible.

“The folks around me not only behaved well, but were cordial to one another. . . ”
There was an odor drifting through the air that may have helped account for that. Could not tell if it was coming from the stage.

Did that odor smell like something that’s now legal?

Man. I had tickets to his Peoria show that got cancelled. Now I’m extra bummed.
