* Now-deleted Facebook photo of 48th House District Republican candidate Jennifer Sanalitro on January 6, 2021…
From Sanalitro…
I visited Washington for the first time and did not participate in any violence at the Capitol. I only learned about the horrific acts that transpired later, on my way back to my hotel. I do not and will never condone violence for any reason. Any person who rioted that day deserves to be punished by the fullest extent of the law.

There sure are a lot of folks who seemingly hate this country, it’s government, and the will of it’s people who nonetheless want to join it’s government.
Hint: if you’re proud of anything that occurred on 1/6, you are not a patriot, you are not fit for leadership, and you have a inverted moral compass.

Whenever I try to prevent the orderly transition of a government, I make sure to have my Nike Insurrection Go Bag. Did she delete it because she was embarrassed she was there or because she had second thoughts about saying rioters should be punished to the full extent of the law?
Comment by Streator Curmudgeon Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 11:35 am
If she’s such a “patriot,” why is she distancing herself from herself? Why scrub social media if you’re trying to save America?
There are two kinds of Republicans these days: those who condemn the January 6 insurrection and those who are traitors and should never hold public office.
They need to pick their side and we need to vote accordingly.

Jennifer Sanalitro is just one of many who will unsuccessfully attempt to recast the events of 1/6 and their role in it. Simply saying that you weren’t their to riot will not wipe the stain that you were part of placing on our democracy.

Is that Blagojevich behind her in the black hoodie that says “King Rod”?
Comment by Siualum Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 12:10 pm
She made it her cover photo, that tells you something.
It was her cover photo long enough after her participation in the coup to be seen and captured by others.
That tells you more.
“Any person who rioted that day…” interesting choice of words. What about those who planned and organized and financed the coup attempt, like Dick Uhlein? Should they be punished to the “full extent of the law” as well?
Did she take it down when she decided to run for office, after she decided to run?
That would tell us even more.
Good follow up questions should be asked.

The obituary for Jane Fonda will note her trip to Hanoi during the Vietnam War and her moniker “Hanoi Jane”.
The politicians, such as Jennifer Sanalitro, who glorified and are now trying to white wash the insurrection should be tagged with the moniker of “Insurrection Jennifer”. And it should follow them to the grave.

So the fact that there were peaceful protestors who did not participate in any form of violence or attempted insurrection, nor entered any restricted area or into the various buildings is ignored to lambast anyone who was there now? I do not care if she is a Trumper; she has a right to peacefully assemble in a public place to peacefully express her opinions, just as liberals peacefully assembled to do so, only to have their protest marches hijacked by looters and rioters. But hey, let’s not mention the Dems that showed up at the riots for photo ops and street cred.

===But hey, let’s not mention the Dems that showed up at the riots for photo ops===
1) The march was designed to stop Congress from certifying a legitimate election.
2) If an Illinois Democratic incumbent or candidate showed up at a riot, then why haven’t the Republicans said something about it?
Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 2:11 pm
=== So the fact that there were peaceful protestors===
They printed $@% t-shirts and chose the *day* of certification.
If you can’t grasp that this was not even remotely a simple protest, you might be part of the problem as why an insurrection isn’t taken seriously… and “whatabouting” only makes me more leery as to what exactly you’re saying… you’re cool with any insurrection?
Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 2:20 pm
@thisjustinagain–nice deflection. Let’s look away from an actual photo of Sanalitro marching to the capitol so you can talk about Democrats who may or may not have participated in unnamed riots for photo ops and street cred.
And to call this march on the capitol a “peaceful” assembly is just flat out wrong, and you know it.
Comment by Steve Rogers Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 2:28 pm
Her statement that she was merely visiting the Capitol that day as a bystander while clearly walking toward the capitol building with a mob makes zero sense.
“I was walking back to my hotel and saw all these people walking in the same direction so I decided to take a picture of the capitol building where Congress was certifying the electoral college votes because I knew history was being made in conjunction with the peaceful transfer of power”.
Comment by Colin O'Scopy Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 2:35 pm
==only to have their protest marches hijacked by looters and rioters==
Testimony before the Jan 6 commission makes it very clear that the organizers of the Jan 6 rally were not planning a peaceful assembly. When 45 sent them to the Capitol, it was not with peaceful intent.
For comparison, consider the Women’s March on Jan 21, 2017. It was held the day after 45’s inauguration in order not to interfere with the peaceful transition of power. The marchers did not storm the Capitol or the White House and the organizers and speakers did not encourage them to do such things.
The Jan 6 rally was not “hijacked” by looters and rioters; it was organized with the intent of looting and rioting and worse.
Comment by Pot calling kettle Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 3:05 pm
They went to the Capitol to, in the words of their leader, fight like hell. The fact that some fought harder than others is inconsequential. It only serves to distinguish which acts were criminal and which were not. But there was nothing honorable or patriotic about any of it.
