Sox need to sweep this series with Cleveland–if they do, they’re 1 game back with 2 weeks to play.

The Monarchs are on the move (banned punctuation). Lots of feeding on goldenrod here this morning.

Missed yesterday because I got to see Pearl Jam twice this weekend: Louisville Saturday and St. Louis Sunday to join the “10 Club” of seeing them live ten times. Illinois-centric since I was able to not watch Da Bears game live and also because Eddie Vedder was born in Illinois. /s

Yeah, the White Sox ball club, this series with the Guardians, it’s the season. Get swept or lose two of three, “they done”, or likely done.
So, Nebraska, Arizona State, they fire head coaches, and yet it seems the Chicago American League Ball Club, as an Or-Gan-Eye-Zay-Shun (see: Reinsdorf) still sees LaRussa as it’s needed skipper?
Cut your losses, after the season. This club should be up 3 games, not chasing 3+ games.

Was wondering what happened to Lisa Madigan. Thought she would have a political career.

Is Mark Frerichs who was released in a prisoner swap yesterday related to Mike Frerichs?

This is the quietest campaign season I can remember. The late primary, COVID, the end of The Program, and the flat-broke Republicans have combined for a reverse perfect storm. Chicago media has already moved on to the 2023 races and no R statewide campaign is up on television. We’re close to October and nobody hear is complaining about mail volume or submitting collages yet. It’s kinda creepy to be honest.

Are the asylum seekers allowed to have temporary work permits? If I were them think I would like to have a feeling that I have some sort of agency in my life while I wait for my hearing.

Had this very same “discussion” yesterday with someone, when they asked my thoughts, and it was odd looking at a big picture where DuPage is about to open early voting and the overall and thematic silence of the statewide GOPers, the lacking of mail programs, there’s no feel of a pushing or driving of turnout.
Will that be bad for Dems, dunno… I can’t imagine total depression of the cycle helps the GOP, the GOP here in Illinois seem depressed more than angered?

Is Hastings running for the two, or a four?

Caught Roxy Music’s 50th Anniversary Tour at the United Center last night. The only IDs being checked were AARP cards.

@Cermak_rd, They do have work permits and are out there every day seeking employment. They need it so they can move into more permanent housing, but also because most have family members back home that urgently need any help they can send back. It’s why they’ve risked so much in the first place.

Chito, I’m glad to hear it! I hope despite a rocky beginning, their time in the US is fruitful for them.

A big reason this campaign season is so quiet relates to people simply being fatigued. Just think about it. The combination of the pandemic, mask & vaccine requirements, Trump, Biden, election denial, inflation, deficit, bear market are more than sufficient. Add to this the large shadow of the 2023 mayoral contest, the lack of competitive races along with the absence of candidates even remotely compelling or charisma and people having had it up to here with politicians. I can go on and on, but you get the point.

… and yet when Uihlein drops cash, ads mysteriously start up again.
I’m seeing Indiana political ads when I turn on network television…
It’s not like Brady, Demmer, they’re sitting on loads of cash and as a strategy not doing ads.

Heard this on the radio and can’t disagree: If the Sox don’t win this series they put the team into hospice…

Got this email today from CMS regarding state annuitant health insurance: “Beginning January 1, 2023, your new medical and prescription drug plan will be the Aetna Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) PPO Plan. This new plan will replace your current plan, whether you’re currently enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare MAPD Plan or one of the MAPD HMO Plans (Aetna, Health Alliance, or Humana).”
