* Press release…
People Who Play By The Rules PAC has launched a new ad, “Pritzker Must Go!” featuring retired Major in the U.S. Army, nurse, and lifelong Democrat Beverly Miles, who ran against Pritzker in the 2022 primary election for governor.
Miles claimed Pritzker tried to get her fired from her job as a nurse for daring to run against him saying she was told to quit her job or drop out of the campaign.
Miles said in a recent Joliet Patch article, “I’m tired of Black people dying and my community being a food desert. The West and South Sides remind me of a war zone and some days like a large psych facility with no walls. And it appears, JB is only concerned about checking the boxes to run for president, as opposed to the issues we’re dealing with in the state of Illinois.” […]
The new ad is available on YouTube, the PBR PAC Facebook Page and directly on a new website called www.PritzkerMustGo.com which just went live Wednesday.
:30 YouTube: https://youtu.be/fkOzgZsY71s
TV Script:Miles: “As retired military, the words ‘duty and honor’ mean everything to me. Those values mean nothing to Governor Pritzker, who tried to get me fired from my job as a nurse. People like me and you need to STAND UP to J.B. Pritzker’s mafia politics. I’m a lifelong Democrat. I believe in serving others. We are less safe in our neighborhoods. Our tax burdens are up. Our job opportunities are down. WE put Pritzker in office. HE FAILED US.”
* The spot…
Proft’s spokesperson says the ad is going up on TV. Miles is a nurse at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital.
* I asked the governor’s campaign for a response to the claim that Pritzker tried to get his opponent fired. Here’s Natalie Edelstein…
The claims being asserted in Dan Proft’s latest ad are a lie. Full stop. Like nearly everything else his propaganda network produces, Proft relies on ill-informed smears to make whatever half-baked point he is pushing at the moment. Illinoisans shouldn’t trust him or anything that has his name near it
* Miles addressed the issue on her most recent Facebook post…
The ghost whispers informed me, Jay Robert took the three million dollars away from Chuy Garcia and allegedly he is no longer using black men/women in Chicago to further is campaign for Governor and his upcoming bid for president. We all know Jay Robert is not Governor’s material and no would he be a candidate for the presidency. I really feel sorry for those who fight hard against me to include putting a video in Jay Roberts hand to create a narrative to suite him. However, I combat crime from the street oppose to sitting beside a desk and or black biding his dirty work
Chuy Garcia and the Hispanic community and black leaders and the black community you all do not need Jay Robert Pritzker, Jay Robert needs you! Know your power when you stand together. It was also mentioned Jay Robert hired a team of Caucasian’s from another state to lead up his Governor’s campaign, that should tell each of you something…… “He does not trust you and he does not trust your abilities outside of doing grimy work. with this said, stop allowing him to use his money as leverage! He needs to black and Hispanic votes because white people are not thinking about him. All the evil things ya’ll did He did, still I rise in-spite of the legal challenges I still face to include the office of special counsel seeking to have me remove as a nurse for the veteran’s administration. It is of my personal belief Robert grubby phat fingers is all over! Black leaders on all levels it is time you stop this man from exploiting you!
To Jay Roberts handing who watches my social media page, it is time you go work for someone with integrity because if I was a Caucasian woman, JB would have never put his foot on my neck! I hope this post put my non-working brothers back on the payroll…… Thank me later and Peace and blessing
.
…Adding… Ziff Sistrunk was described in a legal proceeding as the Miles campaign’s “lead organizer.” The Pritzker folks point out that Sistrunk is now a Bailey person…
…Adding… Since she’s a federal employee, Miles is likely barred for running for partisan office by the Hatch Act.

Nothing shows off how disingenuous someone is better than them writing such a disgusting sentence, and then trying to close it out with that ending line.
Surprised she didn’t end it with ‘joyful warrior’.

I, um… hmm.
Beverly Miles seems like an excellent subject for a wide-ranging sit-down interview. Just let her keep talking and see where it all goes.
Comment by Roadrager Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:36 am
I thought her problem was that as a federal employee the Hatch Act applied. That law existed well before this election.
Comment by Big Dipper Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:37 am
Approaching parody status.

“office of special counsel seeking to have me remove as a nurse for the veteran’s administration”
If you’re drawing that kind of attention as a nurse at Hines VA you have to be an absolute catastrophe of an employee.
Comment by Larry Bowa Jr. Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:40 am
Where to begin. Oh my.
First, I’m not sure what she’s alleging he did. Let’s be real. He didn’t care about her running for gov. She was never a real candidate. So why would he go to such length? That’s more than a bit of a stretch. She was put up to do this run. Everyone who knows anything about her campaign knows this.
And, well, umm, I’m sure she’s playing with all 52 cards.
Comment by New Day Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:41 am
Her FB post is quite incoherent.
Comment by Anonymous 103 Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:41 am
Sorry - that last line was supposed to be “And, well, umm, I’m not sure she’s playing with all 52 cards.”
Comment by New Day Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:42 am
As for me, I had to read the post Rich put up in its entirety to even grasp who she is.
This ad seems to be designed to target an audience of Pritzker and every and all those in his campaign offices or Crew close to Pritzker.
It’s a trolling via television ad.
It’s taking a Facebook rant, (these :30 seconds are a rant) and putting on television that Facebook silly… less the crazy words all jumbled.
While the campaign felt a need to respond with greater depth to also go after Proft, I woulda thought a better type of response could have been…
“This campaign doesn’t respond to folks yelling at clouds from a porch”
It’s an ad that wants y’all to respond with credible words to an alleged not credible person.
Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:42 am
So, is she voting for… Bailey? Is he going protect her job?
Comment by Proud Sucker Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:45 am
Calling out Proft for what Maj. Miles is saying (and clearly believes and wants the public to know) seems cowardly and another example of not reading the room. If she is lying say so. If not, better back away now, JB. Politics ain’t beanbag.

does the phrase “messaging arc” mean anything to the PBR pac? What a bunch of incoherent nonsense they are throwing on tv right now. just burning cash
Comment by Dirksen Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:49 am
Lifelong democrat who ran in the primary for Governor, but now flips and supports Republican Bailey, delusions of grandeur that JB would try to get her fired, conspiracy theories all over her bizarre FB post. And Proft and Bailey think she’s helping them? Wow.
Comment by Baloneymous Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 11:50 am

=== does the phrase “messaging arc” mean anything to the PBR pac?===
It’s a Facebook trolling now found on television.
Seeing it as anything else isn’t true to its intent.
=== just burning cash===
Proft gets his taste with every media buy?
The grift needs legitimate expenses.

On her “campaign” facebook page, on August 14 she said:
“Chicago and Illinois is ready for change and I will not support a candidate who weaponizes the black community for their personal gains” featuring a video of Bailey at Bud Billikin parade.
Now, five weeks later she is starring in one of his ads. What changed her mind?

Yes, it’s also telling us that “crime” and “Purge” are not moving votes.

Cowardly is Proft lying with other people’s money.
Cowardly is bailey refusing to answer questions.

Hines VA is a federal job, not a state job.

The intent isn’t to move any votes.
Intent?
1) Facebook trolling to keep angry… the angry.
2) Billable work product
Bailey quadrupling down and mockingly moving to the Hancock… there’s no intent to try to be genuine to actually running a campaign designed to attract voters… it’s a campaign to align grifting opportunities

All that Uihlein money and Dan just films some random people talking to the camera. I have to hand it to him, he certainly makes sure as little money as possible goes anywhere but his pockets.

You’re making the incorrect assumption that his primary goal is helping Bailey win.

==If you’re drawing that kind of attention as a nurse at Hines VA you have to be an absolute catastrophe of an employee.==
OSC would be the office who would get involved for violating the Hatch Act, as was noted by another comment. As a federal employee, she is prohibited from running in a partisan political race. She is also on thin ice with this ad as she is using her title while engaging in political activity (it’s thin ice because I have seen where ethics officials have not found a violation when they use a title marginally different; for example, if her official title is a General Nurse, but she states she is a nurse, then they may decline to do anything about it). Ironic that she is doing so for a PAC that (also ironically) calls itself people who play by the rules, when she is quite literally not playing by the rules.
Comment by Anon324 Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:11 pm
People often believe rumors and exaggerated claims when they apply to themselves. We see it all the time in our political world
Comment by Walker Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:22 pm
One more thing. Just noticed the chiron. The “source” for one of her claims is the Patch, probably one of the many, many rants by Konkol who has spent much of his time since being fired by the Reader (for the racist anti-Pritzker cover) writing endless conspiracy theory rants bashing Pritzker. So credible? Not so much.
Comment by New Day Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:28 pm
Also, government employees that are subject to the Hatch Act are given training on it, so she either didn’t pay attention to it or chose to defy it.
Comment by Big Dipper Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:32 pm
Ms. Miles might expect a visit from the Grammar Police.
Comment by Rudy’s teeth Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:32 pm
The message, it is all about the message. Proft pushing the message that JB’s a powerful bully versus regular folks. With Miles as one of us, a nurse and military vet. She has to live with crime, high taxes, and fewer jobs. The facebook details, the veracity of her claim that her job was threatened, and the election background will be lost on 99% of those viewing the ad.
Comment by Donnie Elgin Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:37 pm
==seems cowardly and another example of not reading the room==
I doubt there’s anything Pritzker could do that you wouldn’t say was cowardly and a failure to read the room.
==If she is lying say so.==
Pritzker’s campaign did.
==Politics ain’t beanbag. ==
Same advice to Miles and Proft.
Comment by Arsenal Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:38 pm
In addition to the questionable veracity of this ad it’s also…just really bad. It’s another person that nobody knows angrily ranting at the camera. Proft has done a lot of these, and there’s a reason JB’s lead is 7-15 points. This one may be worse, actually, since the woman’s claims are all inside baseball crap that the average voter doesn’t care about.
Comment by Arsenal Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:39 pm
Seems we are being a little tough on Ms. Miles. Team Pritzker calling her a liar is consistent with they way they campaign. I agree that politics isn’t beanbag, but I think we can all agree being a nurse at a Veteran Hospital during Covid takes a special kind of person.
I do know that Retired Major Miles filed petitions in which she stated she was lawfully entitled to run for Governor. Team Pritzker challenged her statement and lost. Apparently she was telling the truth and Pritzker was not telling the truth. Now maybe he was not intentionally misrepresenting what independent hearing officers and judicial folks decided in the appeals and just filed the petition charges to harass and play the bully boy type toward her candidacy - nevertheless the findings in the case were that Pritzker’s charges were false and Major Miles was being truthful.
In terms of a grade for the Ad —A.
In terms of the statement that she is a liar in the Ad, she looked like she was telling the truth to me.
I would add a thank you to Major Miles for her service to our country as well as her service as a nurse at Hines VA Hospital - -especially during the covid pandemic.
Comment by Back to the Future Wednesday, Sep 21, 22 @ 12:51 pm
It seems her biggest issue is that she thinks everyone, everywhere is racist. So she’s running to Trump candidate Bailey. Uhm. Uhh.

How in any way is this ad an A?
Sincerely.
I didn’t even remember who this person *was*… it’s a Facebook screed, with no real context or opportunity to introduce her, it’s wholly designed not to get any more voters but to troll staff and crew and a candidate… who *may* remember who she is.
I get you don’t like Pritzker, but sincerely look at all the words it took for you to even get to the point you wanna make about the ad, how is that an A?
To make your point to people who might follow this closely you took so many words.

That’s not really how hearings on ballot access work. They’re legal proceedings. If Pritzker’s lawyers had been caught in a lie, they would’ve lost not just the case, but also their bar cards.

Gotta admit you nailed me on using a lot of words. I sure did use a lot of words.
As to the grade, I tend to be an easy grader, but I thought she made a serious point of how Team Pritzker tried to have her fired. That is just nasty behavior. She stood up for herself. Good for her.
The Pritzker spokesperson said she was a liar, but Nurse Miles seemed to me to be believable. We do have a prior factual demonstration regarding who was not being truthful regarding Pritzker’s Petition challenge to the Miles Petitions. He lied.
Nurse Miles related her personal experience regarding her job situation. Calling her a liar was just not appropriate.

==Nurse Miles seemed to me to be believable==
What was it that really sold you, her complete inability to provide any evidence for her claim?
==We do have a prior factual demonstration regarding who was not being truthful regarding Pritzker’s Petition challenge to the Miles Petitions==
No, we don’t. That’s just not how ballot access objections work. First of all, *JB Pritzker* did not make any factual claims regarding Ms. Miles’ candidacy. JB Pritzker wasn’t party to the proceedings *at all*. Second, Ms. Miles prevailed because the State Board of Elections came to the legal conclusion that while 2,770 of her petition signatures were invalid (a fact that apparently raises no concerns for you about her fidelity to the truth), that number did not rise to the standard necessary to show a pattern of fraud. Thus, she still had enough signatures to get on the ballot.
The idea that you should draw a conclusion about JB Pritzker’s honestly based on *someone* else believing that a candidate submitting 2,770 invalid signatures constitutes evidence of fraud is, frankly, itself pretty dishonest.
