I sent Blogger support a nasty email yesterday demanding to know why their system is so messed up. I received this form response today:

Hi there,

We’ve had to rollback to an earlier build this morning in order to fix some outstanding publishing bugs. This has had stability implications which we are now in the process of addressing.

Further updates will be posted to the Status blog as they become avalable: http://status.blogger.com/

We apologize for the inconvenience of the recent problems and we appreciate your patience.

2. Yeah, well, Blogger does suck. But it doesn’t suck nearly as much as it did one or two years ago. The problems that Blogspotters encountered this week are NOTHING compared to those of us who used the service before moving on to, in my case, pMachine and later Movable Type.

   TRUST ME ON THIS: You will have problems no matter which service you use. In my case, I have a tremendous comment spam problem. Not a huge problem with Blogger.

   What I gain is better control over my template and archives.

   If I were using Blogspot now — with its more reliable archives and the ability to upload images and graphics via Photobucket and Hello! — I’m not sure I would switch.

   My advice: Don’t panic.

4. I think those accidental multiple posts themselves pretty much sum up the problem. Bill is an experienced poster and blogger, yet Blogger is so screwed up that he posted the same thing three times. I’m leaving.

5. Tired of blogger? Come to the clubhause! Get a free manila site while they last! No ads, you have COMPLETE control or use a built-in template.

   Beware - if you use a bunch of bandwidth on a regular basis and have like, millions of visitors a week, you’ll probably have to pony up a little bling.
