With two weeks to go until the November election, the Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) this week launched a new ad campaign focused on reproductive choice. The campaign includes ads in both Spanish and English, and will reach Latino, Black, and downstate communities in over 230 zip codes across the state.
“Abortion is on the ballot this November. While Republicans are committed to turning back the clock on reproductive rights, we’re working hard to make sure voters know that the Democratic Party is the party of reproductive freedom,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez. “We’re sharing our message with underrepresented communities in over 230 zip codes to make sure they know that with Democrats in office, Illinois will remain a safe haven for women everywhere.”
The ad campaign consists of two 15-second digital videos entitled “Saw This Coming” and “Ready” (“Listo”).
The new ads follow the launch of DPI’s first ever Spanish-language ads last month. With this critical initiative, DPI is continuing its work to reach and mobilize traditionally underrepresented voters in the home stretch leading up to the November election.

I really have no real gauge to “Amendment 1”, but learned through the tweeters that IPI’s Paprocki is involved and spoke to defeating “Amendment 1”, of course with the misleading, very IPI
Between the ILSC races, “Amendment 1”, two/three congressional races, so much is out there that seems so unsettled, not really seen in measurable “race status” ways.
Good to see DPI focus a GOTV on abortion, coulda started like a week ago with early voting well on its way, but that’s for them to decided, and they did.

… imagine that things can change in governing.
The adults know better, Nothing is settled with abortion. It’s best to make sure, every time, that abortion in Illinois is protected… because nothing is safe with Republicans on abortion.

I highly doubt the GOP is going to take over in Illinois politics any time soon. The recent U.S. Supreme Court case was about the 14th Amendment’s relationship to abortion. It’s more likely that Illinois will soon get a constitutional amendment affirming abortion rights. So, again : highly, highly unlikely that abortion rights are going away in Illinois. There’s no popular support for that.

So you’re saying pro-choice is popular in Illinois?
Why not make sure and vote against every Illinois Republican that’s is against a popular policy stance for women’s health.
Why even vote for a pro-life Republican… they can’t change *anything* in Illinois, so Illinois Republicans are grossly inept at change in Illinois, you say so yourself.
Voting against pro-life candidates in an era where Roe is overturned is the *only* guaranteed way to save women from having a pregnancy to term of a rapist, or help the victim of incest from that child having a child.
You ignored Lindsey Graham’s bill. I noticed.

Those are a lot of assumptions. And you didn’t even mention the IL supreme court, which is probably the biggest risk to abortion this time around.

So, with a GOP-controlled state supreme court, you don’t think anti-choice folks are going to challenge any of the existing pro-choice bills? There doesn’t have to be a law banning abortion in Illinois in order for the ILSC to roll back abortion rights.

Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced a bill that would ban abortions nationwide, i.e. including Illinois.

Two things. 1) I will never understand why Kwame chose not to define his BS crazy opponent. He should have run up the score on Devore (yes, intentional rhyme).
2) Just because Ds are in charge doesn’t mean rights are permanently safe. That’s a weird claim by the GOP, especially when you have people like Dr. Oz clearly stating that the decision on whether to have an abortion should be between a woman, her doctor and local elected officials. The GOP wants to outlaw it. By making that clear we can ensure it never happens.

I’m hearing similar things and I think the Union messaging has not been great. The former Lincoln Park alderperson came out against it! Big city Dems scared of big, bad Unions.
