* Hiya. I saw some pretty creative costumes last night, one being a giant squid. What were some of the costumes y’all saw?

A very young child dressed as a dragon fly. She kept asking me to guess what she was and after I went through all the flying insects I could think of (she had wings) she finally laughed and told me. She got extra candy for all that.

well apparently Beyond the Beltway is costumed as news because it is finally full tilt right wing over there now with Jeanne Ives and some Libertarian taking over while Dumont is out? what the what….

My neighbor made a costume of the original Portillos truck for his son.

Is that a thing now? We had 5 or 6 of those come to our house too

There was a kid at my door dressed as a “cereal killer” wearing a vest covered with mini boxes of cereal stabbed by plastic butter knives.
Saw a few of those long beaked plague doctors too. Kids and adults.

I had a plague doctor too. There was a good homemade minecraft costume, that’s the one I liked best. One time, I opened the door and said here you go Mario, here you go Luigi, the kids just had huge smiles, like I’m the first to recognize them, which surprised me, because I assumed everyone knew who Mario and Luigi were.
I had about 120 kids, and then I ran out of candy.

Seemed like about half the adults were also dressed up in some really nice costumes. Saw a dragon, an octopus, and an alien.

My explanation won’t do this outfit justice.
It was a very tall alien abducting a young person. Where the young person was dressed in pajamas for bed and a big, cool inflatable was attached to him and like lifting him to a space ship.
The only bad part was it took the kid 5 minutes to go from house to house so I gave him like 20 pieces.

We had a Ginger Bread Man come by. It was a red-headed boy with sacks of bread strapped to his shirt. Get it?

A lot of hot dogs and Top Gun Maverick costumes out by me. One that still has me stumped is 3 middle school or maybe older kids dressed with the letters S-A-T on each of their costumes. I guess they were going as the SAT exam, but I wasn’t sure if ATS was some K-Pop band I didn’t know

We had a couple giraffes in big balloon suits. They tried to walk up our path together and realized they could not because their costumes were too big. Watching them navigate like the ladies of yore in their hoopskirts was pretty funny. I had about 100 tricker or treaters and was almost down to emergency candy supply (Werthers hard toffees).

Lots of great Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) outfits by us.
Gave out all our 15 lbs of candy…only to have my daughter come home with 5 lbs more.

Third year in a row all our Trick-or-treaters were dressed as invisible people. Not a single one at the door.

I saw a guy wearing what looked to me to be an actual NASA space suit. Not the jump suit, the real heavy-duty, space-walk kind of space suit, with the big helmet that has to twist on and hoses and everything. Watching him try to get into his car made me laugh, but I bet he won the costume contest at whatever party he was headed to.

Saw nobody out for Halloween in my part of 60827, but saw one in a fast-food place I picked up from in an adjacent town. Had a Walmart employee in Homewood dressed like Obi Wan Kenobi, so I told him “I am your father” and we had a good laugh.

There was a kid yesterday that but some time into his vampire costume. Among the adults, I saw a picture of a man dressed as the Long Grove Covered Bridge that made me chuckle.

Riding the el home yesterday and wondering which of my fellow travelers were in costume and which were simply dressed for Monday. Hard to tell with some folks. Everyday is Halloween on the CTA.

Didn’t see any costumes but today I got in the mail my copy of the Chambana Sun Proft “newspaper” SPECIAL CRIME EDITION with the “scary” headline ‘It’s going to be literally the end of days’.

I hope no one drove into him. That poor bridge has suffered enough.
