* Anyone catch the game yesterday?…
Similar moment in Illinois with @GovPritzker raising his hands and proclaiming “Go Team USA” upon hearing of the @USMNT’s victory. #twill https://t.co/PF2r5nX4Cy pic.twitter.com/ha9nUxKYtY

Had meetings all afternoon, so could only catch snippets of it. Probably the right decision, as the final 30 minutes of that match would’ve taken years off of my life had I watched it live.

I’m still hearing from friends who don’t get that low scoring…or no scoring…matches are very exciting. or nerve shattering, as each of the last two for the USA were. football very interesting. Go Team USA (banned punctuation)

Let’s hope we can finish this Veto Session without any issues. The SPI area hospitals are full of people with Respiratory and COIVD numbers are rising.
Not a fan of close contact with staffers, lobbyist , members and the public all being in the Statehouse right now.

I just wished everyone watched and supported the USMNT from qualifiers to now. JB, love ya but you a bandwaggon SON.

Normally I record and watch later. I watched that one live. At the end when the guy drove toward the net instead to the corner to stall…phew. Kind of like in Football…stay in bounds, keep the clock running.

Watched the game and didn’t feel good until the final whistle.
It is so nice to have something (the national team) not be politically divisive, but instead be something all Americans can support and enjoy. We need more positivity.

This past game felt like a must-win for the USA for many global political reasons. However, I couldn’t help but see fear in the eyes of some of the Iranian players that risked personal and familial consequences for their protest actions, and who knows what the loss to the USA means for them.
Looking forward doesn’t seem so fraught

Not to mention the Senate Chambers temporarily being moved to the Howlett Building auditorium during renovations. In the midst of Secretary of State employees, customers, and contractors around. Few still masking.
All the more reason I refuse to let my guard down on masking in public. Including work and shopping. Not to mention RSV and flu out there too.

Well, it’s not required. So there that.

Even surgical/procedure masks are helpful against the spread of Covid, flu, RSV, etc. We should be well over mask-aversion by now. I will be wearing them into 2023 thanks to anti-mask, anti-vaxx types helping to spread lies and diseases.

I really like the way Biden speaks, things like God love them. I find myself often saying “c’mon man” when making an exclamation, even though I am not of the generation that used the term originally.

Team USA acquitted itself well yesterday — high pressure, high stakes and the lads handled it nicely. Pulisic’s goal was a true “for team and country” moment of the type that makes the World Cup what it is. Even the European press was applauding it, and they rarely bother to acknowledge that there’s even any true played in the US.
Football is a game for masochists able to endure a thousand small victories and defeats over 90 minutes, finding the patterns and individual efforts, and understanding that sport is not reducible to mere scoring.

The battle for Archer Avenue is won by Poland after all.
