* For the first time ever, Capitol Fax is an official sponsor of the annual House vs. Senate softball game. It’s my favorite evening of the year, so I’ve thought for a while about signing up as a sponsor. I was informed yesterday that I was accepted.
This year’s game will be Wednesday, May 14 at Springfield’s Lincoln Park. The start time is 5:30pm. See you there.
* Nothing else has worked for the Chicago Republican Party, so maybe this might…
Go over and check out the party’s site in all its glory. [I saw this earlier on another blog, but now I can’t remember where it was. Sorry for no h/t.]

For example, a primary concern of the Realtor industry is that, as independent contractors, we lack the ability to obtain group coverage for health care - a major problem for those with pre-existing conditions. As a result, 60% of Realtors lack health insurance.
Interesting.

Interesting photo. Now the GOP guy over at Illinoize is going to brand Capitol Fax as “disgusting” and/or “very very very sad.” Expect at least three “very”s.
Not to digress, but the “combine” reference on the Chicago GOP site was also interesting. Is the GOP now striving for more partisanship?

First, let me go on record as saying that the use of provocative images by the Chicago GOP to attract attention to their website is absolutely appauling, and an affront to the conservative values that the Republican Party is (supposed to be) built on.
Second, perhaps Ms. Callahan should ask her fellow partisan Democrats in the U.S. Senate why they have been blocking the association healthcare purchasing plan endorsed by the National Association of Realtors for over 10 years. Some should ask her, on the record, whether or not she would cross the aisle to help Republicans in the House pass that plan, once again, and lobby her Senate counterparts to end their filibuster of it.

LOL. Don’t “very sad” the messenger.

Also, why do they have a picture of Harold Washington up there. I guess they still wish to cling onto the mantle of being the party of Ed Vrdolyak. Very very sad.

The Chicago GOP site is fantastic — it truly made my day.
Is the woman in the head shot with the flag the same woman in the torso shot with the flag? I wanna caucus with you!
On the home page, I love the rotating shots of pretty girls and flags, iconic Chicago scenes, and then (cue theme from “Jaws”), scowling shots of Harold and Daleys I and II. Subtle.
Check out the committemen list, too. Most of them have the designation “Hon.” before their names. I don’t think any of them are judges or legislators. Maybe you get that and a cup of coffee for the distinction of being a Chicago GOP committeeman.

The kicker: that’s actually the picture of a man!

With the election in March of a new Chairman for a four-year term, Eloise Gerson from the Gold Coast, the Chicago GOP is at long last led by the activist “Reform” Wing, as opposed to the “Let’s Do Nothing” Wing and the even worse “We Like the Machine” Wing.
Let’s see what they can do.

What no bare belly shots of the “old” republicans? just the young ones.
Comment by Ghost Tuesday, Apr 22, 08 @ 3:33 pm
That would be “reform”

What to talk about indecent? Let’s talk belly shots of old Republicans! Yikes!

If you are feeling frisky, hit the refresh button on the Chicago GOP site. On the left side, there is a picture window called “Random Republican”. Every time you refresh there is a new person. There are a lot of “healthy” babes there between b/w pictures of old black repubs.

Chopper Jim was churnin butter on the belly pic until the “man” post. He hasn’t been this confused since the beginning of the George Michael “Faith” video.

Would you say that if you also knew for a fact that Democratic Cmmitteemen also carried the same title?
Comment by Levois Tuesday, Apr 22, 08 @ 4:18 pm
Lefty,
I too enjoyed the refreshed images of “random Republicans.” Though I only stuck around long enough to catch three or four b-list celebs.
But wait, I thought Hollywood was supposed to not matter in politics…”shut up and sing” and all that.
I, for one, can not consider myself duly informed until I’ve heard Adam Sandler weigh in.
Levois and wordslinger, I think their committeemanship affords them the Hon. title.
Comment by JonShibleyFan Tuesday, Apr 22, 08 @ 4:39 pm
As I understand it, any official elected by voters, including Committeemen, can be called “Hon.” Democrat Committeemen or Republican, same thing.

The realty health insurance problem points to the need to talk about universal catastrophic health insurance (without excluding preexisting conditions, but with a max lifetime cap).
Such a balanced basic approach to health issues would help millions gain affordable health insurance, especially if the State provided matching funds to those near and under poverty.
Of course, State assistance with preventative care (esp in schools) should provide far more bang for our tax bucks over the long-term.
