Judges award those certificates, and if anyone is worried that they’ll be treated like Jon Burge, of all people, then why do you want them on the force?

UPDATE: A community member contacted the Fire Dept. to ask whether they are endorsing these candidates.

A Danville man trying to get his name on the April 4 ballot for mayor got a third no Friday, this time from a Vermilion County judge.
“It didn’t go the way we wanted,” Jacob Lane said.
Lane had petitioned the Fifth Judicial Court to have his name reinstated after the Danville Election Commission ruled last month that he could not appear on the ballot due to insufficient signatures from registered voters. The ruling was the result of an objection filed by incumbent Mayor Rickey Williams Jr.
A minimum of 225 valid signatures from registered voters were required. Lane’s nominating petition contained 231 signatures, but the election commission ruled 22 of those were invalid for various reasons.

When the Feb. 28 primary election rolls around, Kankakee County Clerk Dan Hendrickson’s day will not be as hectic.
There are no contested primary races, thus he can focus on early voting for the April 4 general election.
“It’s the first time in 25 years, I think, that we will not have a contested primary,” Hendrickson said. He has been with the county clerk’s office for 29 years.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I want cops to be afraid of ending up like John Burge.
Quite an illustration of the problem MLL has, tho. She’s too cop for the ACAB crowd, too reform-y for the cops.

jeez, Lightfoot. Poor Chicago, poor the rest of us in Illinois. The choices in that Mayoral race are so terrible. you honestly wonder who is behind whom so you can see who will be in the Hall if they get elected, people with whom you have to consult. Chuy too chummy with the Madigan crowd, Vallas with his face on an Awake event flyer. Terrible choices.

There are no perfect candidates. Chuy and Vallas are more than qualified for the job whether you like them or not. Can’t say they don’t have experience.

Well, nothing happens in Illinois until Oswego has her say, but, the hamlet is struggling with what is being lost or eroding as the more of a grip that the Right wants to the Kendall County politics, the more lost in the woods all Republicans out here find themselves, and it’s been surreal watching, in real time, the implosion of the GOP here as Holmes, Kifowit, and now Hanson…

LL complaining about the certificates of innocence being issued to convicted criminals is laughable, given this is a Dem Party plank of giving criminals more chances for victims to suffer, and LL fully supported it, just like all the other pro-felon moves the Party has made. She knows she’s in trouble in the polls and is talking out at least two sides of her mouth at this point.

The latest dog and pony show in the fight between the anti-Mayor Koos folks and the Town of Normal was postponed from last week until this coming Wednesday.

Of possible statewide interest, the anti-Koos folks are represented by Tom Devore and the town of Normal has retained Mike Kasper, among others.
I have no idea how the judge will rule here on the ongoing dispute over Normal’s status as a town and what offices it must hold elections for but I had to laugh reading Devore’s Reply brief in this case, which was posted to a local blog.
Devore complains that the Town of Normal engaged in “childish and unprofessional rhetoric which reflects poorly on the legal profession.”
The rhetoric he was upset with? The Town of Normal made an analogy between the petitioners filing to run for offices that don’t currently exist to someone filing to run for dogcatcher or prom king, and there was some reference in their argument about rigging an election. lol.

Exactly what do you think a “certificate of innocence” means? If anyone has caused victims more suffering, it’s a system that railroads innocent people and leaves the actual perpetrators to commit more crimes.

On February 28, hardly any primaries in the west and northwest burbs in McHenry and Kane counties.
The only primary is the city of Aurora’s 6th Ward, where six candidates will compete in the top-2 nonpartisan primaries.
Everything else will be April 4, including the interesting race for Crystal Lake mayor, where the incumbent mayor was removed from the ballot, and must run for reelection as as write-in.

I once again am left trying to understand who is Lightfoot’s constituency. She has this weird, disturbing John Burge quote at the same time she says in her The Triibe interview that she is the most progressive mayor in the country.
I don’t know who is going to win this election, but I can’t wrap my head around 50%+ voters saying they want Lightfoot.

The stories of the abuse and torture that man caused is sickening.
The fact that Lightfoot would even consider using Burge as an example as to why cops are afraid to testify is absolutely baffling
