* Daily Southtown…
The losing candidate in the 2022 race for Will County clerk is asking a judge to order a new election in the case, citing mathematic formulas alleging the final count was fraudulent.
Republican Gretchen Fritz filed the lawsuit Dec. 28, claiming she believes “mistakes and fraud have been committed in the casting and counting of ballots” in the Will County clerk’s race because her opponent, Democratic Will County Clerk Lauren Staley Ferry, received more votes than Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker. […]
“It appeared quite unusual that a candidate for Will County Clerk, listed at least eight offices below the office with the most media coverage and largest political spending in the state, would receive more votes than the gubernatorial candidate of her party,” according to the lawsuit. […]
Fritz’s attorney, David Shestokas, said Tuesday the lawsuit highlights a “21st Century approach to manipulating the election process.”
Man, Will County really dodged a bullet. Imagine that person overseeing elections. Whew.
* Also, Fritz’s lawyer David Shestokas ran for attorney general last year as a Republican. He has repeatedly claimed that the 2020 presidential election was corrupted by fraud and even outright stolen…
After 5 weeks election work in #PA and now in #GA, I know the election was stolen. 10 people can actually do something about it. Here's the info to contact them. Over 130,000 people have, but we need millions more. @mtgreenee @LLinWood @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/2RiEUI8LuJ

[Headline explained here.]
…Adding… Per a tip in comments, this is from September of 2020, right as the second wave was gaining steam…
Several Will County Republican candidates in the Nov. 3 election say the Illinois Department of Public Health coronavirus data used to restrict Joliet area bars and restaurants from being open for indoor guests is flawed and it’s not accurate data. […]
Will County Board member Gretchen Fritz, District 5 Republican from Plainfield, said she does not believe Will County’s coronavirus data is accurate, either.
Fritz is running on the Nov. 3 ballot for Will County Recorder of Deeds. […]
Fritz contends the totals have been inflated because Pritzker wants to unfairly target the people in Will and Kankakee Counties. “We are never going to get an accurate positivity rate,” Fritz said.

Oh yeah, she’s a real treat out here. Runs for just about every office. She was on my library board for awhile too. That was also a bunch of fun.
Oh, and that’s not just her lawyer and failed candidate. That’s her husband.

Isn’t Shestokas the guy Devore sued for supposed defamation along with his girlfriend’s mother?

@ Big Dipper,
He was, among others.

–Man, Will County really dodged a bullet.–
If only. The bullet just hit another part of the body politic. She was also a county board member for district 5(plainfield) until the last election.
As a county board member, she was a fountain of… something… during the pandemic too.
“Fritz contends the [covid] totals have been inflated because Pritzker wants to unfairly target the people in Will and Kankakee Counties.

The Caine Mutiny is one of my all time favorite movies.

Apparently there’s a sudden run on tinfoil at Will County stores. Her ‘analysis’ should be quickly disposed of by the judge, and her attorney sanctioned.
As for the “Caine Mutiny”, at least the Captain knew he was aboard a ship; she’s adrift on a raft.

“It appeared quite unusual that a candidate for Will County Clerk, listed at least eight offices below the office with the most media coverage and largest political spending in the state, would receive more votes than the gubernatorial candidate of her party”
The explanation is simple: The people voting in the Will County clerk race knew who Gretchen Fritz was and the majority of them, without regard to their party, were determined to ensure that she did not serve in that office.
And who can blame ‘em.

I can’t believe I missed that.

Jesse White is the most popular politician in Illinois. His opponents probably could have out-spent him 2x or 3x and he still would have won convincingly. If I recall correctly he usually got more votes than the democratic candidate for governor.
Will County Clerk Staley-Ferry is probably similar to Jesse White in that respect. A lot of it probably has to do with the office itself. Her predecessor is a Republican and when her predecessor was in office she was the most popular elected official in Will County. And a lot of it probably hs to do with he fact that Clerk Staley-Ferry runs an open and efficient office.

@TheInvisibleMan - not that it matters but Shestokas is not her husband. She is engaged, and it’s not to him. If I could attach my fave pic of her and her white haired fiancé who is round about twice her age (no hate) in a Charlies’ Angels-esque pose, I would. But alas. I cannot.

As for the vote totals, Staley-Ferry is a union darling. *Her* fiancé is a fire fighter. I would assume quite a few of these guys have disdain for JBP but of course supported LSF. Just goes to show you how little Fritz knows about her own county’s political landscape. Also, Fritz has never been the most… let’s call it: *compelling* - of candidates.
