  1. The birds don’t seem to care that it’s still winter- lots of juncos, house finches, chickadees, & cardinals singing and chittering up a storm. Have also read where sandhills are starting to fly over again returning north & that just seems bonkers.

  2. Rain.

  3. Ditto. Better than our friends to the north looking at ice or 2 feet of snow, I guess.

  4. The birds don’t seem to care that some silly rodents said there’d be six more weeks of winter. Juncos, house finches, chickadees, & cardinals all chittering up a storm. Also read of sandhill crane sightings returning north but that seems bonkers.

  5. Ditto on the rain. Adding, flight delays.

  6. What’s going on? It’s “Pepper and Egg Sandwich Season” for those who participate

From the “Google Key / Wiki” search…

“A pepper and egg sandwich is a sandwich made with grilled bell peppers and scrambled eggs, typically served on French bread. It is a popular staple on Fridays during Lent among Catholic Italian-Americans, particularly in Chicago, Illinois.

The sandwich is believed to have been originally created by Italian immigrants to Chicago in the late 19th or early 20th century. It is frequently found in establishments that also serve another Chicago staple, the Italian beef sandwich.”

I won’t begin a discussion to the “best” pepper and egg, but if you know, you know…

  7. Mendoza really put it to lightfoot. appointed boards are supposed to act independently, but when the mayors appointees all vote the same way, its fair to suspect that there was direction given. lightfoot is really flaming out as mayor.

  8. Saw an article in the Daily Herald where Carpentersville hired a trustee to be their Village Manager. 155k per year salary for someone with no experience running a government.

  9. @ Dr. Jimmy

I started a thread on this issue on the Morning Brief (probably a better place to discuss it). But it is not surprising that four budgeteers vote the same way, and four police officers vote the same way, and that the eight are divided on the issue.

  10. Light rain/drizzle now in 60827, but heavy rain of 1-2 inches possible before it’s over this evening. Sewer cover ready; flood the street a bit or flood my basement alot without a pricy backflow preventer.

  12. I recently went from hybrid work in the office to WFH full time again. Looking out the window I’m glad I did. Definitely happy I didn’t have to walk to a bus stop in this.

  13. Morning brought yet another blow to Decatur. Akorn Pharmaceuticals abruptly closed their doors, informing hundreds via stream that they no longer had a job. Effective immediately. Or insurance. Or severance. Bankrupt.

  14. Here in beautiful DuPage County we are having a lot of rain. Hopefully the temp will stay above freezing for the rest of the day.

The weather map says “wintry mix” just to the north, and we don’t need that stuff.
