This doesn’t even make sense. What a goof.

Republicans are just full of good will, no wonder they do so well in Illinois.

–Board Chair–
Tangential, but she is a board chair, despite republicans not winning a majority of board seats in Will County.
This is the outcome of the “Democratic” County Executive, deciding to split the board chair into equal terms for both parties. Instead of what should have been a Democratic board majority, this is what we have.
This is who the county exec feels best represents Will County, and deserves to be the board chair. Her decisions across the board have been the antithesis of what the Democratic party is supposed to stand for.
Judy here was hard on the antivax and insurrection nonsense as well. Giving her the chair position on the board has been a terrible decision, and this is just the latest proof of how terrible that decision is.

A broken foot is a clear sign that people need to understand the statement, don’t tread on me.
Really? That doesn’t even make any sense. It’s not a cute turn of a phrase, and it has nothing to do with a broken foot.
Stick to the script. Fight against the airport without introducing completely unrelated thoughts. If you stick with the script, at least you will not look like a clown who does not realize they are not a clown, and not funny.

Just more evidence that Republicans in Illinois and nationwide are rotten to the core.

Heard Judy was attempting to best the record for least funny political message, she broke it.

Beyond sad. Hope she wakes up and realizes what she said is beyond the pale. That said I bet she thinks being “woke” is bad.

@invisibleman
That is not what happened with the Will County Board at all.The executive doesn’t have that power. The board is split 11-11 and one of the members on the Democrat side left when they were doing the vote for chair. The Rs then took the chair spot 11-10. This was not some executive edict.

Former Will Co Democratic Board Chair Here! Hi. Responding to TheInvisibleMan: “This is the outcome of the “Democratic” County Executive, deciding to split the board chair into equal terms for both parties.”
This is incorrect. The board is 11-11. When the vote was taken for chair, Democratic member Denise Winfrey left the meeting, leaving an 11-10 board. Thus, a Republican majority and therefore Judy was able to win.
JBT and I may have had our differences at times but she had nothing to do with it. I know she would have made a deciding voting on a split vote for a Dem chair. I’m retired now (at least from Will Co board) but happy to clear up facts further (when not on clock - on lunch break now).

–The Rs then took the chair spot 11-10.–
My mistake. You are correct. It was the Forest Preserve(made up of the same county board members) who split the chair/president position for the Forest Preserve, not the county board as a whole.
I mixed the county chair position outcome with the county exec drawn maps that should have no way ended up in even close to a split board that brought the county to this position in the first place, yet somehow the new maps did - with Denise then leaving in the middle of the meeting and skipping the chair vote. I’ll leave out the rumors I’ve heard from one other county board member as to why that was done, because I have no proof, but the end results speak for themselves.
It’s hard keeping track of all the unforced errors being made under the county execs leadership. The larger point being that despite Democrats winning the election, they still somehow found a way to cede power to republicans.

Whoa! Ed Moody really had a charmed life with patronage jobs and appointments to fill unexpired terms in elected office. I remember that he was appointed to serve as the Cook County Recorder of Deeds before the office was abolished and its duties were transferred to the County Clerk. I think that he also had a brief stint as a state legislator, but my memory may be incorrect. $4,500.00 in money for nothing. Unreal.

Mimi is correct. JBT had nothing to do with losing the board other than being another Democrat in the room who failed to get everyone out of there to keep the board from being having a quorum. Which was the last available option of a dozen or so options that would have kept Ms. Ogalla from having relevancy.
The blame for that little fiasco lies predominately with the Democratic board members who sat there and let it happen to them. Months of work and money wasted because they couldn’t figure out how to combat a shenanigan.
While I certainly have my own concerns with the County Executive, some people are certainly quick to lay blame at her feet. She deserves only a small amount of the collective blame for that (Insert banable word here) show.

–I know she would have made a deciding voting on a split vote for a Dem chair.–
Ms. Cowan, You did an excellent job on the board during your tenure, but I vehemently disagree with this assumption. This is getting off topic, but the power grab JBT tried with county powers a few months back, that even surprised the D caucus in its inappropriateness should be a hint.
JBT tossed the dem party under the bus multiple times as a state senator. I voted for her in the county election the first time around because I thought she would be a far better choice than that other guy running. But her patterns have clearly carried over from her Senate behavior, and today I have no such assumption she would have been a favorable tie-breaker.
You are correct about my mixup in which arm of the county was split, and I’ve cleared that up in the previous post. However, there is still a split in the county board that should not be there based on the election results, sans a failure of the exec to properly manage the caucus.
Comment by TheInvisibleMan Friday, Mar 24, 23 @ 2:09 pm
– She deserves only a small amount of the collective blame for that –
She drew the board maps. Herself. Both parties were angry at the maps presented, and were even more angry that she did it in a way that left no time to come up with alternatives. That was deliberate.
Of course she gets blame for the outcome of what she did. Everything today is a direct result of those maps. Will County should be nowhere near a split board, yet it is, because of the maps she alone drew up.
Now we have this treat of a board chair, taking joy in other people being injured. Of course I’m incredibly displeased with someone like that representing where I live. Blame goes to the person making the statement, and blame goes to the person who allowed that person into that position of power in the first place.

Back to the point.
Has anyone noticed the post Judy is using to argue against this proposed airport, comparing it to losses at midamerica airport, is from 2012? Itself pointing to data from 2010. Pointing out a loss of 12M.
I looked up the current data I could find, and for 2021;
“a recent study that reveals the airport is now a $3.1 billion economic engine for the bi-state St. Louis region. The $3.1 billion in total economic impact is up from $2.5 billion in 2012.”
That’s a gain of 600M in economic development since 2010. But Judy would prefer to focus on the losses of 12M back in 2010.
To put it in words Judy can understand, what she is doing is similar to claiming a farmer who spent 1M in expenses for their farm at the start of the year, is now taking a 1M loss in July - because nothing has been harvested yet.
She only won her last election by a few hundred votes out of tens of thousands cast. I doubt she made any new supporters to her cause today.
