The Bulls are a lost cause. No picks, little talent and questionable coaching. Other than that, things are looking good.

Springfields new mayor Misty Buscher is starting things strong with a firing controversy. She fired the Lincoln Library director “ because some of our grants might require our library director be a librarian.” Which the director was not. Then the library’s community engagement manger was fired misuse of city resources for distributing a letter of support for the director because she had prepared the letter on a city computer. The letter appeared on library letterhead and was posted on its Facebook page.
Personally I’m suspicious that those justifications for the firings are covers for less noble reasons but I guess we’ll find out as things develop.

Greg Hinz’s story in Crain’s probably will get some attention today.

New Mayor’s get to pick their cabinet just like anyone else. Lobbying to keep your job on social media was a boneheaded move.

I was invited to join the Decennial committee for my Township which generates a report on the worth, value and efficiency of a township.
The material provided for review and guidance (sample reports) are so clearly slanted as a checklist for abolishing any random Township, but all the language for dissolution of the Township was stripped out of the bill before final passage.
It is a bizarre experience to be a citizen board member for this fairly detailed exercise and standing between warring local government entities

Jack Thomas, who left WIU under quite the cloud, is now resigning from Central State University in Ohio under yet another cloud.

In this one study, Illinois ranked second in happiness, of all 50 states.

==She fired the Lincoln Library director “ because some of our grants might require our library director be a librarian.”==
A little context: Buscher’s predecessor had his own firing controversy with the previous library director, and at the time people bumped on the idea that this one was not actually a librarian.
There’s a little streak of anti-Langfelder retribution with Misty’s moves so far.

Should everyone have expected that she would just retain the same people that her predecessor, who she ran against and defeated, had appointed? Seems a little ridiculous. The only streak that seems to be going on is a streak of supporters of the previous mayor not being able to accept that they’re no longer in charge. As someone else said above, going to social media, especially city accounts, to say “don’t fire me” is a pretty boneheaded move. They’re appointed positions.

Buscher has named Kathryn Harris, formerly of the ALPLM, as acting Lincoln Library director. Fantastic hire:
