* Let’s revisit yesterday’s NPR story about Anita Dunn’s firm consulting for Speaker Madigan while assisting Alaina Hampton…
Friends of Madigan continued to pay SKDK for “media consulting” through the end of September 2019. A review of campaign records show that Madigan’s committee paid SKDK more than $200,000.
NPR asked Madigan’s attorneys whether they were aware of SKDK’s connection to Hampton’s case. They declined to comment.
Former Madigan chief of staff Timothy Mapes said in an email, “Sorry I can’t answer your questions as I wasn’t involved in those discussions.” (The evidence from Mapes’ trial showed that he was recorded on the wiretap discussing Dunn’s representation, and was also sent emails discussing SKDK’s work for Madigan in 2018.)

Give him credit. Mapes is living up to his reputation as a convicted liar.

When I first read this, I didn’t realize this is a *current* quote from Mapes. I thought, there’s no way. The actual conversation he was in was just made public when he was convicted of lying. Like, it got played back for him. And he still said he wasn’t in a conversation about it. It was literally spelled out for him…D-u-n-n.

There are few figures that inspire this kind of loyalty that they are willing to go to jail to “protect” them. Nixon and trump are a couple of others.

I know I’m dating myself, but Tim Mapes’s mendacity could give Joe Izuzu a run for his money.

Mr. Mapes,
Maybe lil less time finding ways to look ridiculous, in unnecessary quotes, maybe a lil more time preparing for incarceration.

I don’t know why anyone is shocked at Mapes’ feigned ignorance. At some point, you just need to acknowledge that he’s going to lie about everything, up to and including what color tie he’s wearing.

For crying out loud, Tim, can’t you just say “No Comment” like rational people do? Do you have a deep seated need to lie?

Noted.

Jocko, Mapes is copying Joe right down to his famous “I NEVER lie.” line.

What EB said.
Tim, just ST*U
Take care of all your medical appointments. Personal and family financial arrangements. Birthday gifts for your kids. A little physical conditioning wouldn’t hurt. A little self-defense training for someone as a slight as you might not be a bad idea either.
As much as you like contracts for advice, get some advice from someone who knows how to prep you for white color imprisonment.
Get ready to follow the rules.

With SKDK, Anita Dunn, Mapes (convicted felon), McClain (convicted felon) and Madigan all lined up against her, the bottom line is Alaina Hampton stood up for herself and other victims of the “culture” in Springfield - - and won.

Hey Tim - it’s too late to fake mental diminishment, you already convicted.

Mapes should have ignored the email or replied no comment. But - if you read the tape transcript and the email, it’s clear Mapes had no role in the process that ended with Anita Dunn being hired. What was NPR’s question to Mapes? Was it “were you involved in discussions to hire SKDK/Anita Dunn?” He wasn’t. Again, Mapes should have said nothing to NPR . . .
