sad that baseball is over. Had fun with the Sox even if the results were terrible. Now have to get back into hockey because the Bears are painful to watch.

BeagleFest in Dwight was delightful. Midwest BREW seemed to have a great turnout with a lot of fun and several adoptions. We didn’t spend the night in the area as had been planned (had to come back to Chicago), but we’ve got many ideas for another day trip to the area.

Watched the Bears yesterday with a Bears fan. When they were up 28-7, I said, “Right now, every Bears fan everywhere has this thought in their head: what new and inventive method will the Bears use to lose this game?” Needless to say I watched the rest of the game with a rising level of amusement at the Bears inventive incompetence.

I hate to say it, but even when the Bears were 21 points up, I kept thinking they would find a way to lose. And they did.

Justin Fields showed what he was capable of doing against a bad team. Unfortunately the coaching staff did as well.

Joliet is suddenly buzzing with people who want to participate in local government, after the announcement on Friday regarding the 8M asylum-seeker grant.
It’s turning out to be full of extremely ugly people, and most of the city council and mayor have apparently decided to be in that club too. The people in charge are quickly running out of fingers to point about who is in charge.
I do feel sorry for the asylum seekers. On top of all they have already gone through, they are about to get a taste of the… organizational abilities, of Joliet.

Bring on hockey season already!
Cubs management tried to reach the postseason without shoring up the depleted bullpen staff. Lots of room for finger pointing over the 2023 September collapse.
After fourteen consecutive losses, Dan Hampton and Ed Obradovich could use an eight track tape loop as a substitute for hosting their weekly radio show analyzing the Bears.

I’m a St. Louis sports guy, always have been. But I’ve never really hated Chicago sports teams like many other St. Louis fans seem to do. For example, I was happy to see the Cubs win in 2016. And I feel for the Bears fans this season.
I’ve been done with the NFL ever since Stan Kronhke tanked the Rams and colluded with Jerry Jones to get the Rams out of StL. I almost see a repeating of history here. Let’s tank the Bears so no one comes to the games, justifying our move to the suburbs. What the Rams did was criminal. I hope the Bears aren’t doing the same.

Following the news about the horrible aftermath of the anhydrous ammonia leak in Teutopolis. 3 of my 4 grandparents were descended from families down there. One of my younger cousins lived just a few doors down from the accident site and had to evacuate her family for over 24 hours.
(And, ya know, nothing classier than the picture of a fence from the accident site property with a “f@#× Pritzker” Sign on it. Folks in that area sure like to complain about “She-caw-go” and the federal gubmint ” and taxes. Would be curious to see if they’re complaining about the federal agency investigating what happened, or all the $$ they make everytime traffic gets diverted off that federal interstate highway that’s roughly a 1/2 mile north of the village. )

I also watched the Bears game with a Bears fan and he was not comfortable at 28-7. I admonished him and said the negativity brings bad karma to Chicago sports teams. But wow was that a hard lose even for someone like me with no skin in the game. My only suggestion is circle the Nov 9 game and bring positivity. Ugh that that is a primetime game.

The Bears don’t need justification for a move they simply want a handout to make it happen.

I 100% concur with Steve Rogers about how Stan Kroenke disgracefully conducted himself during the process of moving the Rams back to LA. That act alienated a lot of the St. Louis Rams fanbase (including yours truly) that existed at the time.
As for St. Louis City SC, I am glad that they clinched the #1 seed in the Western Conference.

several days ago saw lots on social media saying the Bears should bring back Lovie. Remember when Lovie fired Chico in the offseason after the D did so well? And then the D tanked? It felt like fear & jealousy from Lovie and re someone I know who knows Chico, that was it. Do not bring back Lovie.
