Dealing with a “Thanksgiving gift of Covid.” It kicked in yesterday like a mule. Hopefully today will be better as the snow continues to melt in West Central Illinois.

Seeing all the stories about COVID hospitalizations increasing prompted me to finally go and get my COVID booster and flu shot for the year. I missed a vaccine clinic at my workplace when I was on vacation on October. Sore arm is all the issues that I’ve had this time and every other time.

@ H-W -
Bummer - I do hope you feel better soon.

Be happy that’s all it did. Last week, our community had a Covid death of a reasonably healthy male in his 60s. It’s the public health version of climate change.

Thanks all. My wife and I decided to use Paxlovid to fight the virus. It seems to be helping but it is only the beginning of day 3 with symptoms for me (1 day completed using the med). Paxlovid interacts with dozens and dozens of other meds so you have to be careful. It also affects your taste significantly (imagine eating plastic covered metal). The med is still free for people over 50 and those who are immunocompromised.

H-W- I hope the Paxlovid helps. I had an infection (non-respiratory) a couple weeks ago (right before Thanksgiving week) that knocked the stuffing out of me. The antibiotics fixed the infection in 5 days, but the fatigue took longer to fix. I’m just getting back to normal now. I think my tastebuds have changed, though. I can no longer stand the taste of Aspertame (so no diet soda for me instead water) and a persistent taste for vegetables and fruits.

My wasteline would love this outcome if I could avoid the infection and illness that you had. Hope you feel better soon.

Observation,
Thanks. Yeah, it is interesting that the outcome of my illness seems to be a desire for healthful foods. Hoping that lasts!
