* NBC 5…
Three key officials in charge of coordinating the response to the ongoing migrant situation in Chicago met on Monday at City Hall, according to NBC Chicago Political Reporter Mary Ann Ahern.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle both attended the meeting with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson as hundreds of migrants continue to arrive in the city.
Johnson was in Los Angeles over the weekend to attend the African-American Mayor Association meetings, and also attended the Grammy Awards before returning to Chicago on a late night flight, according to Ahern’s reporting.
At least he was able to see one of the best Grammys in years.

If he was given tickets to the event does he have to report it as a gift?

Happy for him.
If appropriated dollars, fine. If not, fine, just reimburse pronto. If a give, give the equivalence to the immigrant housing problem.

Attending the AAMA meetings is legit.
Jealous of the Grammy attendance, though.

Comp ticket? Paid his own way? Gift from a friend?

Tickets to the Grammy Awards are not available to the general public and are issued by invitation only12. If you are a member of the NARAS or part of a record label, a voting member can purchase tickets for about $200 each1. For nominees, tickets are free12. The Grammy Awards show is not open to the general public, and tickets go only to those who a Recording Academy member has invited2.

This guy really does think he’s a celebrity. And if he was, indeed, attending the AAMA, why wasn’t the other celebrity mayor, Adams of NYC, in attendance? He definitely would not pass up going to the Grammy awards. Did Johnson take his family so they would be safe? And the money/gifting issue has a lot of questions too.

If you accept that you are a one term guy why not enjoy the perks while they last.

Pretty tasteless gift to accept considering the current crisis plus the sweetheart deal Lolla just got from the city last year.
Maybe if he’d skipped it and flown back on-time he could have picked out a housing site for the state before their meeting.

Blanche, be patient. Sometimes words trigger a screen. And it may take a bit to be released.

Did the Deputy Mayor assume responsibilities during Brandon’s temporary absence? Lord knows he couldn’t do any worse.

Speaking of tickets and MBJ, what is the status of Johnson’s motorcade and the history of speeding and red light camera tickets.
Seizure orders were issued for the violations. According to a January, 2024 article, fines and penalties total $2130.
