Snow, snow, and snow. We are up to 5 inches here in the upper north side of Chicago. Schools have shut down

Starting to see cars with Illinois plates heading back north from their winter hideouts. Maybe they should wait a bit

Hope the Bears, Sox, and city and state leaders take a deep look into the failed Kansas City stadium referendum to reassess the public’s appetite for billionaires’ projects.

Yes, Kansas City vote is a message for the Bears and Sox, AND they have winning team!

Like Nancy Reagan used to say “Just Say No”.

What is absolutely puzzling is how the various sports franchise owners and those who advise them in public relations and such could have determined that this is the most opportune time to seek public financing for stadiums. How out of touch with reality are these people?

I’m a former Chicago Express (ECHL hockey team) fan that lived in Hoffman Estates during their sole year of play, and now that I live in Bloomington-Normal I am looking forward to a new ECHL team play next year in the Bloomington Bison.
Yesterday, news broke that the ECHL owner of pair of teams in Quebec and Newfoundland screwed the pooch so badly that they’re being forced to sell the Quebec team and fold the Newfoundland team midseason.
So, the ECHL remained a gongshow during my time away from following it, I see.

No snow on the south side. A few flakes, that’s it.

A few flurries here is Mayberry a sure sign summer is right around the corner.
Not only does KC have winning NFL team but local deep pockets that have been key to keep teams in a small market environment. Perhaps the McCaskey Magic should reconfigure.

The pride that fans may have towards their sports team doesn’t extend to the voting booth. It’s a lesson the Bears and White Sox should heed. These are wealthy franchises that cater to a subset of the taxpaying population. If you want to take a family of four to one of their venues be prepared to pay hundreds if not over a thousand for the privilege Want to watch a game on TV, we that’s going to cost you as well and if not now more than likely in the future. What that leaves you with is a form of entertainment provided by the wealthy for the wealthy. So is it any wonder that the taxpayers are pushing back on these requests for public funding?
