Looks like LiUNA is picketing the Walgreens at Rt59 and Stearns in Bartlett. They have an inflatable, a mobile sign truck and about 10 people in lab coats there. I think their tag line is “From essential to Exploited”

Going to start seeing some planting delays, if next week doesn’t turn drier.

Sorry folks, I guess the whacko Republicans in Madison County don’t want to be a part of your state anymore. They approved placing a referendum on the ballot this fall authorizing discussions with other counties to leave the Cook County controlled state of Illinois.
How embarrassing for the rest of us in Madison County. Please don’t lump us in with the tin-foil-hat Republicans running our county.

As a daily CTA user who has witnessed first-hand the system’s deterioration over the last few years, I’m relieved to see criticism of CTA leadership become more mainstream in the news media and in Springfield. There are a few aldermen who have been vocal about the CTA’s problems for a while and Kam Buckner has been really good on this issue, but the Mayor has been absent. I’m happy the Governor is now speaking about it and hopefully leadership change is imminent. A safe, reliable, and comfortable public transit system shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

Not sure if it’s a county-wide issue or not, but at the very least my son’s school in Normal, IL is getting hit by strep throat pretty hard.

@Edwardsville Guy-
The modern American conservative movement has been based entirely on the principle that no one else is allowed to tell them what to do, but everyone else is expected to do what they say. In blue states it turns into red regions trying to break away. In red states it means state government imposing limits on what local blue governments can do. For the most pathetic recent example, the Indiana state government prohibited Indianapolis from establishing a bus lane. Seriously, a bus lane.
The biggest problem with modern conservatism in the US, which we see in Illinois and elsewhere, is not any of their specific policies they champion. It is that the fundamentally don’t believe in democracy, because they think any world where they are not always in charge is intolerable.

I concur here as a fellow Madison County resident. It’s just sad and embarrassing that this is even gonna be on the ballot.
