  1. Tried to read Illinois Politico this morning and found I have to log in to do so. Just getting tired and wary about giving my email to every site that asks for it. Can just see more incoming junk headed my email’s way when I do that.

  3. Apparently I slept through quite a storm in the early morning hours. No harm done it seems. Had to reset a number of clocks.

  4. Missed the extra innings of the Cubs game and the overtime of the Pacers/Celtics due to the windstorm knocking out power last night.

    Darn you, relatively minor inconveniences!

  5. Why is the senate sitting on so many good bills? Many aren’t even controversial. Hopefully they can move these while the budget negotiations are happening.

  6. Why aren’t we talking about conservation funding this year? Initiatives like those to increase funding for Fall Covers for Spring Savings are modest asks, but essential to supporting the popular, oversubscribed, and underfunded program. In addition to broad bipartisan support, the initiative is one of the few issues where agriculture and environmental organizations are aligned!

Don’t forget hunters - they also support legislation that incentivizes farmers to plant fall cover crops.

  9. cicada song

the critters are exploding out of the ground in my neck of the woods. It will be a loud weekend

“According to Dr. Gene Kritsky with Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, it takes five days for a cicada to begin singing after it springs from the ground”
