Yes on operations and capital spending, No on revenues to pay for it

Posted in:

* Operations and capital appropriations vote…

* Final (third) concurrence motion on the revenue omnibus…

Democratic Reps. Sharon Chung, Terra Costa Howard, Fred Crespo, Stephanie Kifowit and Sue Scherer voted to spend all the money, but not to raise it.

Rep. Crespo, you’ll recall, has been chiding his colleagues all year for introducing bills that will cost the state money but aren’t paid for in the budget.

So far, we’ve received no explanation from any of them. Rep. Chung is a target, so she was likely given a pass, along with other targets like Reps. Katie Stuart and Nabeela Syed, who voted against both bills.

Rep. Larry Walsh was the opposite, voting against the budget, and (on the third try) voting for the revenue.

Thoughts?

    I dunno. She filed all the motions to reconsider on the revenue bill. May have been a plant or something.

  4. I could see a plant, as in buried in the ground, but what info can a no vote garner that wasnt already known, or angle already worked?

  5. Let caucus take note…Kifowit passed billions of pension sweeteners out of her committee…but she won’t vote on the money to pay for these sweeteners…Fun for me, sacrifice for Thee. There is no “I” in team.

    Kifowit also wants to be taken seriously as a potential candidate to replace Kelly Burke as Chair of the Revenue Committee. Her votes last night/this morning should be all the proof leadership needs as to why she should be passed over.

  7. ===or angle already worked? ===

    Because you have to have voted on the prevailing side to file a motion to reconsider.

    Not saying this was planned (because I don’t think the HDems are nearly well-oiled enough), but that was the outcome.
