* Last week…
Chicago – On Tuesday, PETA founder and President Ingrid Newkirk will celebrate her 75th birthday as only she would: by driving through Chicago—once home to America’s largest stockyards—in “Hell on Wheels,” PETA’s life-size pig transport truck covered with images of real pigs crammed into crates on their way to slaughter. The vexatious vehicle will blast actual recorded sounds of the animals’ panicked screams outside The Wiener’s Circle—but the wurst is yet to come for the city’s meat-centric eateries, as Newkirk will cap off the afternoon by giving away delicious vegan Chicago-style hot dogs from Portillo’s along the Magnificent Mile.
Where: Outside The Wiener’s Circle, 2622 N. Clark St., Chicago
* Axios and WTTW fell for it…
PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk was in Chicago protesting practices in the pork industry outside The Wieners Circle hot dog restaurant.
She joined "Chicago Tonight" to talk about the experiences that shaped her view of how we should treat animals.https://t.co/c8brS37FSk

Trouble is, The Wiener’s Circle says it does not serve pork hot dogs. Portillo’s, on the other hand, serves pork ribs.

Now Axios and WTTW can lecture us on how ‘we’ don’t understand rural Illinois because they don’t.

Pork, the other white meat.

Pigs are one of the smartest animals their treatment under “modern agriculture” is sad. Gone are the days when they spent time outside in their short lives.

If only PETA had access to the Google machine to verify their outrage.

I can’t wait to see how The Circle responds to this lol, I’d bet my bottom dollar they’re all in the back office planning what to put on the sign right now.

Wow, the organization that wanted Fishkill, New York to change their name because they didn’t know that it was named after Dutch for “fish creek,” didn’t actually do any research before planning one of their inane stunts?
Their reason for existence is just to get attention. As we say in internet-speak, “Don’t feed the troll.”

And Portillo’s ribs are quite good. My dad’s favorite. Had them for Father’s Day dinner yesterday.

= Robinson’s Ribs in Oak Park. =
Also in Chicago. They show up at so many events. I always say it’s not really summer until I’ve had a Robinson’s pulled pork sandwich. Crowning achievement of my life: eating one of those while wearing white and not getting any bbq sauce on me.

One should see the Weiners Circle Twitter account to see their responses.

And here I thought the most pork came from the Statehouse. Thank you, I’ll be here all week.

WTTW stands for Winnetka Talking To Willmete, so it’s not that big of a surprise that they don’t ‘get’ the Weiner Circle.
Then again, at this point, it is basically a channel of BBC murder mysteries, and Geoffrey Bear takes you to yet another part of Chicago with breaks so they can tell you how terribly expensive it is to have Geoffrey go around Chicago with a crew to produce these shows.

All advertising is good advertising.
The Weiner Circle Twitter last week after the event was good but the war they’re going to have with Portillo’s, who funded the event with PETA, will be epic. My money’s on Weiner Circle over Portillo’s in a Twitter troll-crushing.

When the birthday girl gets to Wieners Circle, somebody needs to order her a chocolate shake.
