The Froehlich thing is interesting.
Paul has always been a thoughtful guy with an independent streak. Sure he took some right wing positions, but overall, he is a good fit for the district and for the Democratic Party. He reminds me of guys like Heath Schuler from NC — some right wing views, but overall, great for the party.
An interesting side note (interesting to me at least): I grew up in Terry Parke’s old district. The idea of the area electing a Dem still seems completely insane. When I lived there, the Dems would run somebody without a chance. Putting somebody on the ballot was considered a victory.

Great, the city is broke and city taxpayer money, who do they think is going to pay the interest on the $85 Million loan, is used for either gambling on whether we will get the Olympics or real estate speculation. What is the property appraised at? How can anyone guarantee that “we will not be on the hook”.

What an interesting story on the downside of statewide cable franchising. Too bad the piece was produced by an Astroturf group, otherwise it might actually have some credibility.
Has anyone here seen any impact yet, good or bad? Where I live, there has been no impact from this law. It’s the status quo, yet another major player bought the local cable franchise recently and raised rates within 2 months.

” He refused to say if he’d consider appointing himself.”
I think with great testicular verility he will be lobbying for himself to get the job. he won’t comment on it because he does not want to require the Obama camp to make a public response which could be unfavorable.

Froehlich is an opportunist. He saw the Obama writing on the wall and took note. Terranova is useless. Crespo switched and won, now PF switched. Rocco is the luckiest committeeman in the state. He did nothing worthwhile and has 2 reps and Bean. Note, he switched before the fundraiser. He may be great for the D party, but that is just to keep power. Despite his hyperspeed shift to the left in the primary, I cal BS on that. He is either a flipflopper, coward or opportunist.
Skeeter, I disagree. PF is a GOP and opposed the party on somethings, but a democrat, he is not.

PEG broadcasts have value, but not infinite value.
We have had ATT U-verse available in our area for nearly six months. The previously sole supplier of video content has had a rate increase since then, BUT when I called and told them I was going to discontinue their services in favor of U-verse, they immediately offered an equipment upgrade and 30% reduction in monthly fees.
Sounds like a win for this consumer.

Given the stupendous economic resurgence on the southern lakefront between the loop and Hyde Park, I assume the city can recover it’s investment in the Michael Reese property without much difficulty. It’s probably a very good move by the city to acquire the Michael Reese property regardless whether the Olympics come to Chicago. It certainly sends a strong signal to the Olympics Committee that Chicago is really committed to hosting the 2016 event and making it a success.

The epic failure of the Tribune continues. Piece by piece, bit by bit, it’ll be sold off while Zell pockets every last dime he can from the carcass of that paper. And the employee’s pension fund that financed the deal? Good as gone.
Captain America - The near south side is the worst real estate market in Chicago right now. Vacancies, unsold units, and foreclosure rates are skyrocketing, just as a couple of thousand more units go onto the market.
The sight of Michael Reese hospital isn’t worth $80 million. or $60 million. There’s a reason why the company that owns the sight is selling to the city, and that’s because no right minded person would pay that much for a piece of land in a collapsing real estate market.
This is Daley handing $80 million in taxpayer dollars to a private company and sticking us with the tab. The first of many hundreds of millions of dollars that Chicagoans will get stuck with over this Olympic debacle.
The biggest scam ever. That’s what the Chicago Olympic bid is. Daley wants to enrich all his buddies and stick it to the people of Chicago.

To say PF is a Republican is either hyperbole, or shows a misunderstanding of local politics. Democrats and Republicans are, by definition, whoever attends their party’s breakfast buffets.

No need to replace Obama as he is not going anywhere.

As Patriot stated, maybe no need for replacement if Obama keeps getting this kind of “support” from his HOME state…

It appears that the Reverend Jesse Jackson’s legacy is “going down the tubes.” His “glory days” are over as younger African-American leaders are emerging to replace him. His jealousy of Barack Obama will be his undoing.
