* From the Chicago Republican Party…

REMOVE DEMOCRAT SOCIALISTS FROM ALL GOVERNMENT

CHICAGO, IL — “Communism has been banned in the United States since 1954 with the Communist Control Act, yet we have numerous government officials who prescribe to Socialist ideology,” said R. Cary Capparelli, Republican candidate for the special two-year term at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.

Capparelli added, “Communism is a growth of Socialism and we have a mayor in Chicago and other elected officials, all Democrats, that act as a Socialists.” He further noted that at least six (6) aldermen are members of the Chicago City Council Democrat Socialist Caucus.

“Leftists in academia are the foundation of the Socialist movement and they are poisoning our youth with unreasonable expectations. It’s also causing dishonesty in media which is ‘playbook’ Communistic tactic to disrupt honest government,” concluded Capparelli.

Voters are urged to disregard the term ‘progressive’ as it’s clandestine wordage for ‘socialist’. Republican candidates throughout Chicago and Cook County are working diligently to earn votes in the upcoming election to give citizens a real government with strong American values.

Other local Republican candidates in the November election include: Robert Fioretti for State’s Attorney, Lupe Aguirre for Clerk of the Circuit Court, Michelle Pennington for Cook County Clerk, Tien Glaub for Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court and the trio of Claire Connelly, Brendan Ehlers and Richard Dale, all for the six-year term at the MWRD.

  1. And they wonder why don’t win elections here. Nothing about policy, just hysterical, stupid fear.

  2. I have some interesting information for Mr. Capparelli regarding both the definition of words and how Chicago built all that lovely infrastructure he would be responsible for as a commissioner.

  3. When they say Chicago Republicans do they mean all three of them??

Comment by Friendly Bob Adams Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 2:32 pm

  4. Same old ancient tripe. The GOP and its base can’t advance past false and simplistic talking points. If they had an iota of honesty, they would accept that many on the far left actually do not like Democrats.

  5. Very few titles carry with it both the political clout and credibility as “candidate for special two-year term at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.”

  6. Elements of the Austrian School of Economics labeled the US a “socialist” country after Calvin Coolidge signed The Flood Control Act of 1928.

Have to ask - Cary any relation to Ralph?

The law was declared unconstitutional in 1973 by an Arizona federal judge.

    What tripe.

  8. Attended a fundraiser a few years ago at Manny’s in Chicago when Bob Fioretti was running as a Democrat. What happened?

  10. Is the Capparelli for Metropolitan Water Reclamation Districk of Greater Chicago’s campaign slogan “Kill a Commie for Mommy” or “Better Dead than Red”?

Comment by Gruntled University Employee Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 2:42 pm

  11. From Wikipedia: “Socialism is an economic and political philosophy encompassing diverse economic and social systems characterized by social ownership of the means of production, as opposed to private ownership.”

Is the candidate advocating for private ownership of the MWRD facilities? If so, he should declare this on the record. If not, and if he intends to continue the government ownership of the water reclamation infrastructure used by the majority of Illinois citizens, he should explain why he is attempting to become part of a socialist venture.

  12. If Rich fired up the Way Back machine we could see when Bob Fioretti was not only a Democrat but part of the progressive caucus in the Chicago City Council and loved having his picture taken with Jessie Jackson Jr.

Comment by low level Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 2:45 pm

  13. Fioretti will run on the most prominent party line that’ll have him.

The fact that he’s with the Chicago Republicans these days says a lot about him–and them.

  17. He talks like a Republican from my area of the state. Unfortunately, the fear mongering and name calling has become standard for the Illinois GOP regardless of location.

  18. Thoughts?

Technically, it is socialist democrats, not democrat socialists. If the author wants to look intelligent, they need to at least know the difference between and adjective and a noun.

  19. Communist and Socialist aren’t the same thing. At all. And people wonder why Republicans are so far out of power in this state. This kind of nonsense is why. No ideas. Just lunacy.

Comment by Demoralized Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 3:06 pm

  20. What on earth did the Democratic Party of Illinois ever do to get opponents like the Illinois Republicans. It is like winning the lottery week after week after week

  21. You know a band has lost it when all they want to do is play their greatest hits that haven’t aged well.

Commies? The GOP answer at this point is to call everyone commies?

  22. I thought all the Chicago Republicans moved to Florida already with Griffin and Rauner?

    Comment by Anon E Moose Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 3:25 pm

  23. Fun fact:

Chicago’s first Socialist alderman, Frank A. Stauber, who was elected in 1878, was later elected Cook County Commissioner as a joint member of the Republican Party and the People’s Trade and Labor Party.

Comment by JoanP Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 3:30 pm

  24. Railing against the Red Menace and who the chair is isn’t going to move the needle with voters. Talk about kitchen table issues: increasing price in homeowners insurance, what a natural gas ban will really look like, good teachers leaving the classroom because they have no control over their students and get no support from the administration, the massive cut to soil and water districts (very important in rural areas), international instability… And have actionable solutions.

  25. It is a bold strategy to actively try to prove that a broken clock may not always be correct at least twice.

  26. This guy is a candidate for the Republican candidate for Metropolitan Water Reclamation Board, but he didn’t say one word about the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids?

    Seems suspicious.

  28. I do kind of like the idea of us progressives/liberals/leftists calling ourselves socialists once and for all.

Also shoehorning “Democrat” instead of “Democratic” into “Democratic Socialist” is pretty funny.

Comment by Lefty Lefty Tuesday, Jun 25, 24 @ 4:24 pm

  29. =Communist and Socialist aren’t the same thing=

Yep. And if they are kicking all of the socialists out of government I have to assume they will be purging the ILGOP of all socialists too, right?

So that leaves the likes of Darren Bailey on the street looking for a new affiliation. Will Mary and Chris Miller (no relation) be put out to pasture as well? I mean ALL of the farmers are out, anyone taking PPP money are out. There are more but I think you see that this purification process will leave the part pretty small. Pure, but small.

BTW, this has a purge feel to it. Stalin loved purges. That irony is surely lost on them.
