Watching the Olympics has been a welcome respite from watching the Cubs the past week, and I imagine that the same’s quadruply the case for Sox fans.

Potemkin Village sprucing up as Chicago repaints bridges and viaducts in advance of the the DNC. The city cannot let the delegates see how much vandalism has defaced the expressways. Mayors Lightfoot and Johnson would have done better if they kept up with the graffiti removal practices of former mayors.

I was on the White Dudes for Harris call last night. Three and a half hours, but we raised $4 million+!
Gov. Pritzker was one of many speakers and he did great. I am so glad I took part in this.

@Nick Name - I was on the White Dudes for Harris call too! Tons of great speakers like Pete Buttigieg (Pete for Veep!!) Pritzker, and Tim Walz (MN Gov), as well as celebrities like Sean Astin, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hammill.

I think I’d cut Lori some slack there. She was dealing with a pandemic which meant that with social distancing (especially in 2020) she really couldn’t assemble teams of volunteers, or people working off fines or even teams of city workers to do that kind of work.

What TJ said. It was a joy watching US swimmers win gold and silver medals. The Cubs are the bigger disappointment of the two teams. They are supposed to be in playoff contention, not last place.

I have enjoyed watching the Olympics this week. Rugby sevens has been particularly fun. It’s going to be rainy and/or hot in Chicago this week, so may as well hang out inside and watch the Olympic Games.
Heading to Wrigley Saturday for Cubs-Cards. I do not expect that to go well. Cubs have been an enormous disappointment.
