She walked into this mess on her own so this is the right outcome. But I find it interesting that in a world where Restorative Justice is promoted she is not afforded a second chance.

So I guess it’s fine to mock a child if he isn’t on the spectrum?

Restorative justice requires the offender to admit fault, and the offender and the victim (and their supporters) to work together to figure out the best way to redress the wrong. I wouldn’t be opposed to it happening here, but I don’t think Jacobson would participate in something like that.

As I said yesterday - I just don’t understand their justification that they didn’t know he was on the spectrum. As if making fun of a teenager is acceptable.
If my kid was caught bullying another teenager that way I would take away his phone for a month. The same should be done for Proft and Jacobson by taking away their microphones.

Going to expand a bit on what Strannik
If she had said something to the effect of my comments were inappropriate in any context when talking about a child, no less a child that is neurodivergent, as a parent and a coach I should know better. I have a responsibility as a parent and a coach to set the right example and in this situation I have failed. I have reached out to X,y and Z to better understand the challenges that families of neurodivergent children and adults face.
I hope to learn and grow from this and ask forgiveness.
But she didn’t do that. She doubled down with some insults on Governor Walz.
See that isn’t hard, I have a degree in Computer Science and even I know how to write a half decent appology.

I think that is irrelevant. Adults making fun of kids, regardless of whether or not they are neurodivergent is just a bad look. Seriously, I cannot fathom why any adult thinks it’s appropriate to use their platform to attack someone’s kid.

The follow-on punishments come because they were insincere about the initial apologies, and they tried to excuse themselves by making it about the politics. Moreover, they acted begrudgingly about being called out and being wrong. They don’t believe they are wrong about anything- it’s their shtick. To be superior and judge others. People see through that.

Doesn’t she consider herself a reporter? She should have done her due diligence. Either way she shouldn’t be mocking a child, especially as a coach.

This is the legacy of Donald J Trump. He has taught the feeble and weak minded that the best way to prove your point is to insult and denigrate whoever you need to in order to fire up your base. The child’s status is irrelevant. Grow up and talk to, and about other people as though your mother was listening to your conversation. Would she be proud of your words and your actions? Have some dignity. Show some class. If you truly want to “Make America Great Again,” start there.

All this commentary is over the top. Beyond various charitable endeavors, Proft named his political consulting firm Starfish Consulting in an obvious reference to shine a light on those suffering from lower GI halitosis. His concern for those suffering from debilitating ailments is well established .

I actually don’t believe them when they say they didn’t know he was neurodivergent. That has been a well publicized issue, especially in political circles. But also, I agree it’s irrelevant and their “apologies” were subpar.

Look, there are a handful of simple rules for basic decency that were broken here.
1) If you’re a human being, don’t mock people with developmental issues.
2) If you’re an adult, don’t mock minors.
3) If you have a platform, don’t mock people that don’t have a corresponding platform to shoot back at you.
She was a certified joke as a basic human being, as an adult, and as a radio host.

What did Amy *think* she was doing when she was mocking a child?
“people become vicious”
Who became “vicious”? What are their names? What “vicious” things did they do?
“simply because they don’t agree with their point of view.”
People are angry with Amy because of her *actions* not any “point of view.”
Unless you think Amy’s point of view is “I should be able to mock children without consequences” — in which case, there was no mistake was there?

As a recovering sports parent the first question that flashes through my head is “what was her record”.
Kidding aside, Proft and Jacobson’s behavior is deplorable. They need to move along and never come back. It was wrong and it isn’t woke to know that.

2+2=5 is an example of a mistake or more properly mis-calculation…Ms. Jacobson’s remarks are simply an example of character failure.
