* LSSI sent me a video yesterday which was played during the event. Marnie Jameson is an extraordinary person and you should definitely watch it. Also, please remember this video when we start our fundraising drive to buy Christmas presents for foster kids…

We play a very narrow, yet quite special role in helping foster parents like Ms. Jameson every year. It definitely keeps me going. Thanks!

So many kids who need love, support and a safe home, people who can’t have children of their own - it seems like there could be some synergy there for some of these kids without parents and some parents without kids.

Marnie Jameson is a gift. Her partner is also wonderful. Two kids were all I could handle. I’m in awe of Marnie and her capacity to love and nurture 90 plus kids.

Foster parents are special folks. And yet they are always the last in line when DCFS has more money to spend.
We need something akin to the George Ryan Rule or school funding reform that dedicates 51% of all new DCFS dollars to increasing the foster care subsidy rate until it is fully funded, Rich.
Subsidies need to reflect the actual costs of raising a child.
