  1. One of the few nice things about Facebook is the fact that memories for holidays are very convenient to refresh my horrible memory. Last year, we were all bundled up for Trick or Treating with my son. This year? All we needed as a light jacket after sunset.

Great Halloween in McLean County this year, especially in our neighborhood with a large Indian-American population. Halloween + Diwali is a really fun combination.

Annual state report card came out as well, and McLean Unit 5 did extremely well. While I’ll never like paying taxes, I don’t mind as much when we get good education results out of it.

  2. September and October may have been the two best months of fall weather in 50 years! Let’s hope November can keep pace.

  3. Congrats to former Sox Michael Kopech, who went from the worst team to the best in the blink of an eye.

  4. After an episode of eerily unseasonable weather in the Chicago burbs, fall is in full effect.

  5. It seems like October lasted 6 or 7 weeks this year. Certainly more 80 degree days than is typical. Today looks to be a great fall day, but it appears that a damp, drizzly November is just ahead.

  6. Thanks for that reminder @TJ. We had so many trick-or-treaters this year that my pumpkin that I usually empty only a couple of times got emptied 6 and a half this year. Most I’ve seen in our neighborhood and talking with the kids I laughed as many drove over because we give good candy. I loved seeing some very cleverly dressed kids and some parents too(bp)

  7. 2024 corn production is just short of a record. soybeans did well also.

” the Illinois corn yield is forecast at 222 bushels per acre, up 16 bushels from 2023. Production is forecast at 2.36 billion bushels, up 4 percent from last year”
