The MLB “off season” is a time for caravans and conventions to promote the teams in advance of 2025 Spring Training and Opening Day.
The White Sox have economized by moving “Soxfest” to the Ramova Theater in the Bridgeport neighborhood (January 24-25, 2025) rather than holding a convention in a major hotel.
This is not a good look.

Illinois Supreme Court Molinas case is published. Odor of raw cannabis by itself is probable cause to search a motor vehicle without a warrant. The odor of burnt cannabis is not according to Redmond posted 09/19/24.
No one needlessly splits hairs as well as Illinois courts. It’s their superpower.

City Club of Chicago is going to have a Christmas party on Dec. 16 downtown. The announcement reads, “Join us to celebrate and bid a fond farewell to Amanda Agosti” I would pay $100 to see Amanda gone. Totally rude in my experience.

Well nothing says you can’t search my car because I’ve already smoked it up like the Illinois courts. LOL

RIP Beltin’ Bill Melton, just learned. Very fond memories.

Hands down, most effective LA is Linda Daley, longtime assistant in Peoria to David Leitch and now Ryan Spain. Linda knows every agency better than the agency staff she deals with, and has helped probably thousands of constituents over her decades-long service as an LA. She gets things done for her district and its people, of both parties.
Nancy Naylor is relatively new to state government as LA for outgoing Sen. Win Stoller, and will be as well for his incoming replacement Li Arellano (Li knows quality when he sees it). Nancy was CEO in Atlanta GA of a major international beauty products company who moved back to her hometown of Dixon 3-4 years ago to be close to great-grandkids. Full of energy, Nancy is also an elected member of the Lee County Board and chair of the Lee County GOP Central Committee. Comfortable with both bigwigs and just plain folk, Nancy is well-organized, focused and works her tail off for local governments in the district.

I am saddened to learn of Bill Melton’s passing. He was a big deal for the White Sox back in the day. Herniated discs limited his power and shortened his career.
