I don’t really care that my beloved Cardinals and Sox have both been hibernating this offseason. Opening Day can’t come soon enough.

I know this isn’t Illinois-centric but it was in the prior stories here and Mary Miller along with some other Illinois GOP agreed …. will the pres, vice-pres, secretary of transportation, secretary of defense, etc. issue an apology to the black air traffic controller after they are reversing their insinuation in saying he caused it and he was unqualified?

Speaking of Mary Miller, I wonder if Trump defining what men and women are will be enough for her to not put her bill from last summer back up. Not sure, because her bill makes _gender roles_ enforceable by law.
And speaking of, I’m affected by the NSF grant funding freeze/nonsense here in IL. I am a lab tech that analyzes research materials; grants pay for me and my work.
And I am looking at the questions from Rich’s spreadsheet and…it’s so stupid. Because the ‘domestic energy sources’ question, yeah, that could be me because I run samples that could be considered green energy research.
And I’m a _female scientist_ (25 years and counting!). By how the Trump administration and cronies define DEIA (they are so totally going to try and end the ADA…), the fact that I am a woman and a scientist means that I must have _totally_ taken the job from a white straight cis man and thus am supporting DEIA and possibly even gender ideology, since if you ask a chatbot/AI picture generator what a scientist looks like, it will say a white dude. (I would not be surprised if Trump/Musk and Project 2025 decide to use AI to determine whether a gender should be doing a job or not. Ask AI what a cop looks like, or a pilot or a firefighter. But don’t worry, ladies, you can still be meter maids and flight attendants!)

Cubs aren’t much better. Made a good acquisition, but then inanely played hardball on the negotiations to poison the well for future contract dealings with them immediately thereafter, and then had a billionaire owner crying poor despite owning a top five earner that’s more than quintupled in value since he bought it.
