* Let’s belatedly kick off Women’s History Month with a big bang…
Three women have won Best Rap Album at the Grammys: Ms. Lauryn Hill (as a member of Fugees), Cardi B, and most recently Doechii. Both Hill and Doechii performed at Jazz In The Gardens Music Festival in Miami Saturday night, and during Hill’s set, she brought out Doechii to do “Doo Wop (That Thing)” together.
“Doo Wop (That Thing)” comes from Hill’s R&B Grammy-winning solo album, 1998’s The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. Doechii thanked the Fugees member on social media, writing: “Thank you Miss Lauryn Hill. Thank you. My heart is so full. She is my hero. This is the greatest honor hip hop could give me. Praise God … my entire body is vibrating with joy right now. I’ll never forget this day!” She also shared, “I never been so nervous in my life 😭 she is a QUEEN.”

Congratulations to the Kenwood academy girl’s basketball team winning the 4A championship Saturday night. Tight game for the first half, then their D overwhelmed in the second.
3A champs Montini
2A champs Nashville
1A champs Pecatonica - the first championship in *any* sport in the school’s 90 year history. What a memory for those kids

Executive Ethics Commission posted 34 OEIG reports today, all related to COVID era fraud. For FY 2025 to date, 89 reports. 1 SOS for sexual harassment. 88 OEIG, 1 for political activity, 1 for lying on job application, and the other 86 related to Paycheck Protection Program fraud.

well the B1G (HQ located in Rosemont) women’s hoops final Sunday came down to two teams not from the Midwest, in a game played in the Midwest (Indy), UCLA and USC. fascinating game. the national player of the year JuJu Watkins and her team went WAY cold in the 4th Q (as in no buckets until under 3 minutes left in the game) and UCLA won. On Friday watched Iowa (Affolter from Chicago) lose in a tight one to OSU but any winner of that would get the right to be crushed by USC.

Health Alliance is dropping insurance for the state workforce as of May. This is a huge disappointment to us: the coverage and service was great, and I don’t know if whatever I have to replace it with will let me keep my current doctor and my current medications. Carke owns Health Alliance and has not really explained why they suddenly want to drop coverage.
