I just got a text that the ballot I mailed last Wednesday has been received by the Dupage County Clerk and will be counted. Going forward I’ll be using the drop boxes.

Lots of rain and storm damage deep in the 618.

Super windy and cloudy here in beautiful DuPage County this morning. At least it stopped raining. But hey, it’s National Burrito Day so that’s a good thing….

Here in corn and soybean country in LaSalle County, lots of rain yesterday and more forecast for tomorrow. Farmers are looking to replenish groundwater from a low-precip winter, but it’s a balancing act to get the rain in before planting time.

Jason Boland and the Stragglers in Bloomington last night. One of the tightest bands I have ever seen in person.

Heard a sore-loser Trumpist on the North Shore who lost a board election filed police reports against the winners today (all, like, PTA moms), alleging blackmail and threats. Also demanded a recount. High hilarity on suburban social media, although no actual news reporting on it.

===no actual news reporting on it==
Might help if you named some names.

I’ll e-mail you the solid details I know, and the gossip I’ve heard, and let you sort it out. I don’t want to repeat idle gossip and this whole thing has been crazy

I am surprised that Tiffany Henyard didn’t do anything similar in Dolton and Thornton Township. Unless it is coming.

I don’t know about the tariffs; I think they may be too extreme. If you need to slow a car down, you step on the brakes, you don’t crash it into a tree.

I wanted to add this to the trade mission discussion

Does Intersect Illinois need that many people going for this trip? Once again, I ask who funds them. It seems like it’s a junket frontgroup.
——
At one point during Rauner administration it was all corporate funding, currently it’s a mix iirc
Certainly some deco monies goes there during this administration
There would be more accountability if intersect would be dissolved and back into deco
Rauner administration didn’t set up Illinois for success
Why keep such insular and opaque structure?
Economic development for a trillion dollar economy deserves more scrutiny

Don’t know where else to put this. The headline is ‘man evades deputies during firearm removal search”. In Galena. Turned into a standoff but the subject escaped. Will be curious how this was being done- Search warrant?

I know the bishop is also a lawyer, but, he has no moral grounds to protest in the case, having been on record as supporting the actual imprisonment and execution of gay and trans people in Africa in violation of the commandment thou Shall not kill. When called out on it, he gave a sorry /not sorry sort of apology that was barely publicized. Many parishioners can’t wait until this bishop is retired.
