Somehow the White Sox remain in a four-way tie for first place. The big question is whether the Sox’s position in the standings will drop faster than the stock market…

Just took a look at Caterpillar’s stock price.
Down 14% in last 5 days and down roughly 29% since the November election. Yikes.
I know it’s not HQed here any more but I pray for Peoria and all other Illinois communities with Cat workers that may be in for some rough times.
Sure would be nice if Darin LaHood could take time away from his work with the Congressional Soccer Caucus to co-sponsor legislation to end the tariff policies that are harming the many Cat employees and farmers in his district.

I wonder how the state pension systems investments are doing.

=I wonder how the state pension systems investments are doing=
Pensions use long-period amortization between 20-40 years - so the short term gyrations of the markets have very little impact. For well allocated pensions a market correction can represent an opportunity to enter investments at an attractive cost basis.
“Recently, there has been a downward trend in the length of amortization periods. According to the Public Plans Database1, approximately 40% of nearly 200 plans used a 30-year amortization, or higher, for fiscal year 2012. As of fiscal year 2019, the percentage had declined to 24%. The median amortization period of these systems declined from 27 years to 22 years from 2012 to 2019″

end the tariff policies
Dems were all for these policies a few years ago. Google it. You’ll find speech after speech of dems wanting increased tariffs. What changed?

No, sir. I’m well aware of what changed. Everyone is. They just won’t say it out loud.

What changed, dummy, was a demand for targeted tariffs against companies and countries that were dumping steel, etc. morphed into a bizarre blanket tariff with very little basis in reality imposed on our allies.

Now that Tiffany Henyard is out as Dolton Mayor and Thornton Township Supervisor, there sure seems to be a lot of quiet from her. She didn’t run as a write-in according to the Cook County Clerk’s voting results. So she didn’t even vote for herself??

@Capcitynewt - To borrow a turn of phrase from a famous Illinoisan, I don’t oppose all tariffs. I oppose dumb tariffs.

She was pretty much mailing it in in Thornton Township after she “didn’t do all that super” in the Dolton primary. She didn’t even show up for the most recent meeting. Ms. Henyard IIRC was only at one meeting since the Dolton defeat, the night that she refused to allow Trustee Stephanie Weideman to participate remotely because of a family matter.
I wonder what her next job will be? Sounds like a great idea for a Question of the Day.

License plate maker?

The Trump Tariffs appears to be another Attorney and Accountant employment law. An 11% tax on all imports with an exception for crude oil in need of refining would have been better than this mess.

=License plate maker?=
Before that inevitable day I was thinking something more along the lines of “activities director” at a Dolton senior center. Where every day is “Big Bingo Day.”
