A political action committee tied to Gov. Rod Blagojevich acknowledged it improperly contributed to Rockford Mayor Doug Scott’s re-election campaign.Move Illinois Forward, a PAC that supports the governor’s political interests, contributed $20,000 to Scott on March 25. But the PAC had previously reported it would not participate in the mayoral election cycle. […]
On Monday, Move Illinois Forward asked the elections board to disregard its nonparticipation report.

This could be a very costly mistake. As a result of this admission, any money they raised during the election and failed to report could be subject to fine. This may not be over yet.

They probably let brain surgenon Bradley Tusk or rocket scientist Lon Monk take care of that.
Incompetence and corruption are a dangerous combination.

And worse yet, they backed a nice guy, but a clueless loser who was waxed by an independent. If that’s not a shot across the 2006 bow, I don’t know what is…

This is an honest technical error. Do the naysayers have any idea how hard it is to be fully compliant when millions are being handled. If the governor picked on everyone who makes a small mistake in trying to follow rulesn no one could operate in Illinois.

How about Mongo? And I’m not talking about the regular commenter here.
I mean the steer. Remember that? Technical misunderstanding of the State Fair livestock rules by a teenage girl and her parents and the governor grandstanded for the national media - calling them a bunch of cheaters.
What goes around…….

I get the point, but actually the Mongo thing was a matter of violating a non rule because someone decided they could set a standard by whim rather than through the established rule making process. It was one more example of the crack legal team at work. BTW, does anyone know the record for most months without a Governor’s General Counsel-I think we are at about ten right now. When you have no intention of following the law it may be difficult to fill that position.
