Do you realize that Barack Obama’s book, Dreams from my Father, is still on the NY Times bestseller list?

I like and of course voted for Obama BUT the book is nothing that great.

That’s because he actually wrote it himself, without a ghost writing hack. It is more a diary than a Tom Clancy novel, so in that regards, it’s quite good.

“the book is nothing that great“
But when it comes to stories about how the child of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Africa grows up to attend Harvard Law School, Dreams of My Father is without peer.

Wow. Obama is my hero.
Seriously, I wonder if any special interests have started buying the book in bulk since he took office (a la Jim Wright). Is that still legal anymore? Do the proceeds go to charity or something?

I’m none too suprised, because the average IQ in the areas in which it is most popular is, in all probability, sub-75.

Amy and Illinipundit must have misread the post.
He wasn’t referring to another laughably dishonest Ann Coulter screed or Michael Wien…um I mean…Savage, trash-fest, unfit to wrap around dead fish.
It is highly doubtful the “oh gods of the AM dial, do tell me what to think” crowd is leafing through the autObamagraphy.

The first post had it right. Nothing against Obama, I like and voted for him BUT he is becoming bigger than life unnecessarily AND the book is not that great (I did read it).
I am not sure the significance of his dad being from Kenya (his dad played no role in his life) and his mother being from Kansas (he was raised by his mom and his white side). Being biracial or interacial right now is NOT a bad thing as it may have been in years past, with the Hip Hop culture and certain other aspects of current perception IT IS A POSITIVE THING.
Obama had a good life and there are much better Horatio Algiers stories. Obama is not a real model for African Americans as he did not live the African American experience and also is not the descendent of slaves—most African Americans did not grow up going to private schools all around the world including Indonesia and Hawaii and grow up with white people. Obama did not go without.
The feeling of not having connection to his black father (who abandoned him) and doing illegal drugs is not that unique.
His illegal drug use and relatively dismissive attitude about it is probably not the best role model for kids even if typical for many college students.
