With just 22.22 percent of the votes counted, Dolton Mayor Bill Shaw trails challenger Bob Watson 50.57 - 39.46.
UPDATE: Peoria Mayor Ransburg lost 55-45.
UPDATE 2: The Sun-Times website appears to be ahead of Cook County’s own website. They’ve got Shaw ahead 47.6 to 43.2 asa of 10:27pm. Not sure what percent of the total that is, but a commenter noted that the race was already called for Shaw by Fox Chicago.

Looks like Peoria elected a democrat mayor. With Ricca Sloan gone, Arrogant Shock as the house republicans call him better be damn careful.

Both Peoria candidates were Republicans.

In this race Ran$burg reportedly spent over $300,000 and his campaign was ran by Allen Fore and Dave Kelm. Carter Hendron was involved as well. This was a major ass-kicking for Kelm, who was burried in his race for Springfield Alderman a couple years back.
On a side note, Peoria Heights 2 term incumbent Mayor Earl Carter was beat by 10 points-Carter did TV spots for Boy Wonder Aaron Schock last fall. both actice mayors that campaigned for Schock were defeated this spring.
Coupled with the fact that as School Board Pres Schock raised taxes, he can get ready for about $500,000 in TV about his tax and spend policies.

The Shaws need a final nail in their coffin.
And their operative Gorman also.

Correction- Earl Carter was beaten by almost 20 percent and it had nothing to do with Aaron Schock. Anyone caring to investigate this election would find out Earl Carter did himself in all by his lonesome.
