Comcast Internet service is down in my intern Mike’s part of Springfield and in my neck of the woods. I have an alternate Intertubes connect, but Mike doesn’t so MS may not posted for awhile. I’m also running late, yet again, so just hang loose and use this as an open thread to discuss state politics and government. We’ll be with you shortly.
…And, we’re back… Things should go more smoothly now. We’ll have posts in a few.

Great show last night at COWL. Obviously there was plenty of material and they used it well. Hultgren, Turner, Berrios and Sacia were stars!!

I’d encourage everyone to read the obits on Leon Despres, particularly Neil Steinberg’s in the Sun-Times. A man certainly ahead of his time in Chicago, he lived a very full 101 years.
Here are a couple of excerpts from just one facet of his life, his time as the lone independent alderman during the reign of Richard J.
–”One of the prime attractions at any Council meeting is watching Despres lecture the mayor, his finger wagging practically under Daley’s nose, pouring out a dazzling array of statistics and studies and sociology and sheer guts,” longtime Chicago reporter Lois Wille wrote in 1970.–
And:
–”Despres has been told to shut up — in one form or another — more than any grown man in Chicago,” Mike Royko wrote in the Chicago Daily News in 1972.–

All I want to know is, when Todd Stroger talks, is it true you can see Bill Beavers’ lips move?

Rich, you might want to check into these guys for backup broadband.. They offer good coverage on the S and SW sides of Springpatch. They also offer pay-as-you-go packages.

Not so fast with the Turner stuff. There’s gonna be a primary battle. Art has been looking for a new job for a long time and never seems to make the cut.Time for some new faces.

Wow, I really like all the new blinking ads! I hope that you charge extra for the flash effect.
