* Patti Blagojevich, when asked why her husband Rod is facing jail time…
“I can’t really get into it too much, except that, yeah, they made a big hoopla about something that wasn’t even the truth,” Blagojevich said. “My husband was governor for six years, and you know was always about doing the right thing for people.”
Discuss.
…Adding… Rod Blagojevich’s trial will likely happen soon after the 2010 primary and before the general election, which won’t be fun for Democrats…
U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel told attorneys he wants the trial to get under way between April and June 2010 and would prefer it closer to April.
Zagel also said he is thinking about “public anonymity for the jury at least until the trial is over.”
“I’ve been getting lots of advice as to how I should rule and what I should do and I would not want members of the jury to be influenced by anything like that,” he said.

I am not sure I really care what Rod or Patty have to say anymore. Good Riddence.
They are corrupt Chicago hacks who will likely face jail time. I do feel for their children who will be scarred for life as a result of their parents’ selfish acts.

Why do they call these bizarre spectacles “reality” shows? They’re not based in reality whatsoever.
Like Zagel said about Rod, perhaps Patti doesn’t realize the extent of the trouble they’re in.

Anyone else wonder if the Blagoofs leaked the Durbin phone call story just hours before the TV debut ( which was one of the longest hours in television history) to hype audience?

I didn’t know much about her but after watching last night I see a pathetic person that I do not have much respect for
Comment by tiny tim Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 9:57 am
Can’t say anything bad about her or the statement except it’s false, but if your wife can’t stick behind you then who’s left. Hell, she is wiling to eat a tarantula to support her family and live on the island of misfit celebs-that’s pretty cool.
Talk about TV so bad it is absolutely riveting.

Good thing she took her talking points with her to the jungle. She may be more unlikable than Rod.

How are the Blagoofs going to make money on this when the winnings are to go to the “Charity” of the winners choice? Oh sorry I get it yhey are their own favorite charity, IF Mrs. Potty Mouth wins.

Well, it’s kind of embarrassing but I think Mrs. B. should be off limits unless she is indicted.
She has to earn a living.
Democrats should be very afraid, however, of the current reported plan to try our Blago next year probably right smack dab in the middle of an election year. Even if they aim for early in the year, you know how things drag out. Could be close to November–even our Illinois Republicans should be able to gain some advantage if they plan carefully. Especially if taxpayers are simultaneously feeling the pain of a huge tax increase.

I didn’t watch, and won’t, but do wish it was Rod himself eating taratn…tarantl…spiders in the jungle. He was probably watching Spongebob on Nickelodeon…

Yes I did watch it, I had never watched it before and I sort of understand why now.
But I did come to realize that either Rod is the Spencer Pratt of Politics or Spencer Pratt is the Rod of life I guess.
A tool that is only looking to move him self forward and willing to do whatever it takes be it acting overly dramatic or whatever.
Also I enjoyed Janet Dickinson pointing out Rod was elected by the people twice, besides wondering wth is up with her lip was thinking lots of crooks, criminals and nimords have been elected to office twice.
Also enjoyed Patty brining up the ‘couldn’t defend himself thing’ again. Then again I suspect if you are her you have to believe that he is getting jerked over because the other options are just to harsh to consider about the man who is the father of your kids.
Felt a little sorry for Patty that Rod put her in this position.
Also decided that a fair punishment for Rod would be he has to spend some time as the Pratt’s personal assistant. That would be worse than jail…

Yes, if “big hoopla” means lying, cheating, shaking down, being 1,000% self-absorbed and looking only to the day he becomes President for Life, then yes, I guess that was a “big hoopla”.
She appears to be as smart as her husband.

Yes, I had to watch last night, and strangely, I thought Mrs. B was much more “likeable” than a few of the others. One question, who in the h*ll is Spencer, and how soon can someone vote him out of the jungle? That man, who professed to be a fan of Rod’s and wants to vote for him for President, is truly the most obnoxious of the bunch.

Hey VanMan….that quote you got from Noah’s wife is priceless…just priceless. Thanks - I’m gonna be laughin’ for the rest of the day.

– I had to watch –
Spencer is from MTV reality thing called The Hills, so is Heidi
I realized that somewhere a Hill is missing it’s Idiots.

“Patti Blagojevich,….”
…Spewed the same drivel story line as blago; what a surprise. But at least a national audience heard it all again. An aside; what a DREADFUL show.
Comment by sal-says Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 10:37 am
I may be a conspiracy but, but it all seemed a bit contrived to me. First, Spencer brings up the topic and then Spencer, Heidi and Janice all seemed not only to accept Patti’s statements but injected support such as “the Truth will always win out” and “he was elected twice by the people,” as if Janice Dickinson had any idea who he was before this show let alone knew the talking points. She was fed that and so was Spencer.
Interesting that only Speidi and Janice joined in, but it sure seemed like part of the deal for Patti to be on the show was that scene and guaranteed support from the cast.
Comment by ThreeSheets Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 10:48 am
Wouldn’t it be entertaining if Patti was indicted when she returns from Costa Rica? She won’t last.
Now that’s REALITY TV!
Comment by X-ray One Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 10:50 am
I agree with “I had to watch” that Patti B. was likeable, certainly more so than the gang on the show, but I think, actually, genuinely likeable. i don’t think it’s an act, it’s just her now and it really works for the audience (read jury) watching. oh, the things we watch to keep up with political news!

It also looked like Spencer was reading it when he asked the question, you can see him look down

I watched that little scripted heart-to-heat evaluation of Rod by the contestants and I threw up in my mouth a little, that little bit of acting was way more disgusting that watching Patti eat a bug.
BTW, Lou Diamond Phillips was looking and talking more than a little but like a better-muscled version of Rod B. Rod might need to start worrying if Patti will fall for Lou…!
I know I’m not going to watch more of this show, I think I’ll just troll Google Videos for posted clips of her eating more bugs.
Comment by Gregor Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 12:38 pm
When I saw that Rod claims that Patti eating a tarantula proves her love for him and their kids, I was reminded of this line in an old poem: “No love,” quoth he, “but vanity, sets love a task like that.”
Pretty much sums it up for me.
Comment by soccermom Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 1:51 pm
So she goes on theis reality TV show because she needs the $$$$ for her two young daughters.
BUT, today she claimed she would give all winnings from the show to a charity…that turned her down???
SO this is the Blago’s scheming to work over sympathy of a future jury…these people have no soul.
Comment by scoot Tuesday, Jun 2, 09 @ 4:48 pm
Doesn’t anyone see irony in Patty eating a tarantula? Or could this be some obscure attempt at alluding to a Black Widow spider?
Doesn’t she have a degree in Economics from the U of I? One would think she would be able to get a job somewhere…????
PS Vanilla Man you rock.

I’m more worried about attempting to contaminate jury pools. Defense lawyers try to select the most stupid, easily-led fools for jurors, aka the target demographic for these kinds of programs and those kinds of statements made in last night’s show.
