* Great news from Carlos Hernandez-Gomez. He’s out of the hospital…
On the road back to Chicago. I was just released from the hospital. Deo Gratias!
* Infamous media critic Howie Kurtz once gushed that the Chi-Town Daily News was “pioneering a new form of low-cost, street-level reporting.” Apparently, that’s no longer the case. From Gapers Block…
Breaking news: The Chi-Town Daily News Folds - more details soon.
I can just hear the Sun-Times and Tribune now: “See? We’re not the only ones with horrific business models!”
UPDATE: The C-TDN owner says everybody got it wrong. I asked him why he was laying off people if he wasn’t really folding. His response: “The new product isn’t going to launch immediately — the plan is in the next 8 weeks. While we expect to be better funded than Chi-Town, we’re not in a position to pay reporters when we don’t have anywhere to publish their work, or one that we can sell ads in to support their salaries.”
…Adding… Ironically, the latest Tweet from Chi-Town Daily News’ owner was: “Rolling in green!”
* Follow the link in this Ramsin Canon Tweet for some hilarity…
Some facts @wbez DIDN’T report on from the Cook County Democratic Organization meeting. http://tr.im/yrAr
* Speaking of hilarity…
Chicago Cubs fans name their newborn daughter “Waitle Nex Yeare”
Pathetic, but hilarious.
UPDATE: Oops. NBC5 got punked…
FYI, that Cubs baby name story was a hoax. Was published as an announcement in the Trib. We interviewed writer, publishing update..
* More pathetic hilarity…
just presented my platform to the Cook County Democratic Party. Greater focus on Economic Development. Jobs for illinoisans..
I bet you didn’t even know that Doc Walls was running for governor. Yep. True.
* And speaking of Illinois politics, this Tweet is from Alexi Giannoulias…
Just posted @ Daily Kos about the public option http://bit.ly/hBJtA
* Dan Hynes Tweeted several times yesterday that he was live-blogging at Daily Kos…
# I will be blogging on Daily Kos today at 4:30 CST – hope you will read it, give me some feedback, and recommend it.
# Looking forward to blogging later today, will be responding to reader questions for the first half hour or so.
# Anyone have any thoughts on what to address in this blog? White Sox are off limits given their 6.5 game distance from the playoffs.
# Dan’s blog is available at http://bit.ly/47N1iO
But then a few minutes after that last Tweet, came this announcement…
Unfortunately, Dan won’t be able to join us, but if you post a question we will have him answer them in his next diary
Oops.
* Wish I could be there for this…

No. I think it is a passing fad as I am already growing annoyed with it.

from roll call-coulson was endorsed by shimkus and biggert. The 10th is closer to Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana and missouri and minnesota than parts of the 19th so I don’t know how much that will help.

From Giannoulias’ dailykos post: “I’m a financial guy at my core— I’m currently the State Treasurer of Illinois. Before that, I was Vice President of a community bank. I have a degree in economics, so I’m interested in the solution that makes the most moral and economic sense.”
He should have gone on to say: “And pay no attention to the fact that my family bank, where I was the chief loan officer, is about to fold under the weight of bad loans.”

I should also add that Illinois families have lost $85 million of their college savings under his brilliant leadership as Treasurer. He’s the last person who should be allowed anywhere near the health care system.

Rich - Oops, indeed. Forgive us, we ran into the perils of liveblogging, or live anything, really. We will try it again soon, though. And we mean it this time.

God bless, Carlos.
Twitter is the lowest form of communication yet. Are we done regressing?

Too bad about that “Waitle Nex Yeare” baby story. I’m sure someone at Juvenile Court would have relished ruling on that form of child abuse!
