its good and I think its a situation where he wins just by being able to put the ad up. the other guys cant do that.

I like his ad, and its all fair. I agree with shore-McKenna can simply push more points this week than the other guys can, and that could be all the difference. I am still waiting for this onslaught of Dillard stuff, but with 8 days left it just isn’t happening. Jumping candidates quickly, I saw a network Proft spot yesterday? How much does he have going this week?

Anyone disturbed that he would use the same “What she thinking?” slogan as Blago in 2006? Something about this guy I just don’t like.

At the end of the day I just don’t see Andy’s support being that deep. I see a lot more Schilerstrom yard signs than I see McKenna signs. I know yard signs don’t vote but….
Also at some point someone is going to start shooting back.

I don’t see any way Ryan can win this thing.. So it’s Mckenna or Dillard. How do conservatives get over the Obama ad from Dillard??

McKenna should be running ads that say: “I’m NOT the Republican Andy M. who’s calling Mark Kirk ‘a gay.’ I’m the other Republican Andy! The OTHER Republican Andy!”

Independents have to be asking: OK, how far do spending cuts get us? Anti tax ideologues might be able to get elected, but can they get us out of the mess?
And the Dillard endorsement? One centrist supporting another centrist? What’s the problem for independents here? I don’t see it.

The question really is does the GOP want to win in November 2010. Dillard can win. McKenna can’t. It’s as simple as that.

The McKenna ad is okay on content. Given the lateness of the date and his resources, Dillard really can’t devote any time or money to explaining away the Obama stuff.

Seems to me that Dillard having made ONE ad for Obama during the ‘08 primary (in which Republican’s weren’t supposed to be voting anyway, and his support did NOT carry over to the general election) is a pretty minor “transgression” compared to McKenna’s having 1) basically sank the Illinois GOP on his watch and 2) for all practical purposes, attempted to “buy” the election with gazillions of dollars in campaign ads, just as Blago did.

I am sick my absentee vote for Bob is a wasted vote. Sure I could go back and vote for Dull (McKenna), Duller (Jim Ryan) or Dillard (does that man ever stand for the same thing twice)…but why bother? I think Bob (though polling low) might have been surprised. I received a packet o’ Republican on my door Saturday endorsing Bob.

Being anti-tax may not be realistic, but it does tell independants that their taxes won’t go up without a real fight. Few believe that their taxes won’t go up, so who would you rather raise your taxes? Someone who doesn’t want to do it under any circumstances, or someone who says they will raise your taxes without reforming or cutting back on costs?
As an independant Democrat, I am totally anti-tax. This government doesn’t deserve the money it already gets. It is so corrupt it gets laughs on comedy shows. It is so deadlocked, it hasn’t passed a budget on time in over five years. It has a senator, nominated by a crook, who lied under oath, and reprimanded by a US Senate led by liars. It has a governor who is unable to present a State of the State address, sat on his hands for a year, and oversees a DOC scandal that is threatening our safety.
How much are you willing to pay for this?
If governments had a lemon law, the current Illinois government leadership would be owing us a multi-billion dollar refund.
Although anti-taxers are unrealistic, they still seem to be able to count better than who we have in office right now.

An effective ad attacking his two leading opponents by using their records. It might serve Andy right, however, if he were elected and then had the obligation to figure out how to balance the budget — and prevent collapse — without any tax hikes for four years.

Quinn is missing an opporunity with his Harold Washington ad push-back: Stand up with Monique Davis, with CSU’s statue in plain view, and defiantly object to the notion that governing ought to be done with competence!

Dillard should run an ad that says: “Illinois’ budget is $26 billion, the projected deficit is $13 billion. Which half are they planning to cut? Can we afford to cut school funding when we have candidates for Governor that can’t add? What are they thinking?” In the background would be clips of his opponents pledging not to raise taxes.

Dillard has been endorsed by 10 newspapers while no other candidate has more than one.
Dillard is endorsed by some of the MAJOR players like the State Rifle Association, Family PAC, Illinois Education Association, and others who have bodies who actually vote.
Dillard by far is the BEST candidate if the GOP wants to win in November. It would be a shame if Andy bought this election.

Andy McKenna cannot win the general. Where was all this money when he ran the state GOP? Apparently, he was hoarding it all for himself. At least he follows his own “self-funder” mantra…
If Dillard somehow pulls this off, he can play the “I supported Obama” card to his advantage. He and Jim Ryan have true cross-party appeal, which none of the others have. Unfortunately, I don’t see too many of my party’s members considering that selling point when taking a GOP ballot.
