  2. I hear the Tea Party needs some candidates

Comment by George Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:41 am

  3. Team up to make a dream ticket. Of course, Rod would have to move out of state. Indiana would be great for both of them. Rod could shine shoes outsides of one of Scott’s pawn shops for campaign funds.

Comment by Bill Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:42 am

  4. They should both run on the Green ticket; Rod for Gov of texas and Cohen for Lt. Gov of texas.

Comment by Ghost Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:43 am

  5. Oh Bill, you took thewords right of of my mouth…”Gov. Sleaze and Lt. Gov Slime: the difference is we’re out in the open about our character”…”no surprises after we’re elected folks”!

Comment by Sewanee Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:46 am

  7. If Brady is elected, maybe we can create a new position for them to run for. Instead of dog catchers, they can be elected dog gassers.

  8. Please, Please, Please oh Please do it…..

Comment by OneMan Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:52 am

  9. I’m not going to stop Mr. Cohen from running for office in the future. He might have a chance. Blago simply doesn’t realize he’s a huge dud.

Blago simply just needs to stick with being a reality show star wannabe!

Comment by Levois Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:52 am

  10. I think Rod is prohibited from seeking state office due to his conviction in the senate, so he should run for delegate from Guam or American Samoa, somewhere far, far away.

And since Cohen has no convictions, he should run for the US Senate from Louisiana, where voters don’t mind if you are a patron of prostitutes.

    Comment by 47th Ward Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:53 am

  11. Hire Don King to run your campaigns.

Comment by Moving to Oklahoma Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:55 am

Comment by Irish Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:10 pm

  18. There is an open Gov seat in NY. ScottRod could probably do pretty well there.

Comment by Bill Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:16 pm

  19. Rod & Scott, Gov and Lt. Gov. in Alaska. Alaskan track record shows it might be done. Scott could deal in ivory and mail order brides from Russia. He could go to Sarah’s and see them coming!!!

Comment by Irish Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:16 pm

  20. Start small…
    no smaller than that…

Comment by David Starrett Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:27 pm

Comment by Pot calling kettle Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:45 pm

  26. Rod, after you acquittal, use your top Constitutional Law skills to have your ban on holding office lifted. Move into Mike Madigan’s district and run for his seat…revenge never tasted so sweet.

Cohen, go to law school and run for AG as an advocate for abused women and the rights of sex industry workers.

Comment by the Patriot Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:51 pm

  27. If they are patient, maybe they can get Alexi, once Broadway goes belly up, and Froelich, once he gets nailed, and run a whole ticket of disgraced has-beens.

Comment by Adam Smith Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 12:51 pm

  28. Rod goes to Las Vegas and becomes an Elvis impersonator.

  30. Is “Village Idiot” an elected position, or just an appointment?

Comment by Gregor Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:00 pm

  31. Don’t do it! If either were to win, it would be the end of CapFax! Before the first term was up, Rich would be rich enough to retire or dead of a stroke. Plus, think of his poor interns.

Comment by Pat Robertson Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:00 pm

  32. to Scott: go do something good. Maybe run your job fairs on the up and up and help people find jobs. Talk to people and understand the pain that unemployment can bring.

to Rod: ummm, if you win acquittal, try running on an anti-law enforcement platform. There might be enough people out there mistreated by law enforcement that a they done me wrong platform might be a winner.

    Comment by cermak_rd Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:05 pm

  33. GOV–Rod Blagojevich
    LT.G–Scott Lee Cohen
    Treas-Betty Lauren Maltese
    Sec of State–George Ryan
    Att Gen–Dan Rostenkowski

Now that would be a winning ticket…Only in Illinois…

  34. The Rod and Scott Nightly Roundup - Fox or MSNBC - one hour of personal political commentary and analysis. Tonight’s special guest: the Michael Madigan dartboard.

Comment by zatoichi Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:17 pm

  35. My advice to Mr. Blagojevich would be not to step in front of any automobile that had “Run, Rod, Run” as a FRONT bumper sticker.

Comment by Six Degrees of Separation Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:29 pm

  36. The joke is on us. It is self inflicted. What do people know today about Blago that couldn’t have be gleaned in 2002 when be beat out Paul Vallas [assisted by Ol Roland Burris]? He was a self important clown then and remains one today. It took 2 terms in the gov’s office for people to figure that out.

Comment by jaded voter Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:33 pm

  37. The first commentator (STONES) nailed it- DON’T

I would say to Blago- GO AWAY… to jail.

Comment by The Shadow Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:48 pm

  38. Google says that Toronto Canada has a large Serbian population (after Chicago’s). Perhaps Rod can move there, run for something.

However, Scott Lee Cohen is not barred from running for office again here. Clearly he has presented his credentials to the people, it is time for redemption. I think perhaps Attorney General would be good for him. He knows a lot about child-support enforcement and also women’s issues. He’d be great!

Comment by siriusly Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 1:57 pm

  39. Rod should promise to take over the airwaves every Sunday with an Hugo Chavez-style TV show.

Comment by Pot calling kettle Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 2:28 pm

  40. Shadow,

Blago is not going to jail. He is going to walk on a hung jury. Blago has been working the jury pool for a long time now. He will get 2 or more nimRODS to hold out. One goof on George Ryan’s jury nearly sprang him. Sad but true.

Comment by jaded voter Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 2:35 pm

  41. jaded, you sound awful sure of yourself. Just sayin…

Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 2:51 pm

  42. Rod will be running to fill the new government post of Ethics Czar. Mr. Cohen is rumored to be running for the new position of Director of Sensitivity Training.

Comment by Bill Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 3:12 pm

  45. cohen for secretary of state- no licenses for campaign contributions, but that is a fine mink coat you are wearing.

Comment by kj Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 3:24 pm

  46. How about Dean and Lieutenant Dean of Clown College? Or are they overqualified?

Comment by Jake from Elwood Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 3:53 pm

  47. They could be pretty successful. It wouldn’t take anytime to raise campaign funds. Cohen can use his skills (pawn shop administration) to find valuable items to sell. Then Cohen can let Blago auction them off!

Comment by So IL Student Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 4:07 pm

  48. I hear there’s an opening for aldermen in Chicago, they’d fit right in there.

Comment by Concerned Voter Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 4:12 pm

  49. Running for Donald Trump King of the Crazy World? I though in January, 2009 when he was thrown out of office, Blago was barred from holding any political office in Illinois for Life? If he is convicted, then that is even easier!

Comment by You Got to be Kidding Me! Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 4:16 pm

  50. They should both run, out of the state, country, off the planet, what ever but do run away far far away.

    Comment by Dan S, a taxpaer, a voter and a Cubs Fan Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 4:17 pm

  51. They should start a new show called “I’m an Illinoisan, get me outta here. Please. Like now.”

Comment by Just workin' Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 4:26 pm

  52. Rod should highlight his dramatic skills and poetry reading. I never liked him so much as when he dramatized in his post-arrest pressers. I’d be tempted to vote for him, even though I don’t like his politics.

    Comment by Peggy SO-IL Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 4:57 pm

  53. Hire Grainger Terry and the world’s your oyster… (sung to the tune of One Night In Bangkok)

  55. Blago/Cohen - ‘If you can’t beat ‘em, beat ‘em’

    Comment by Anonymous 2.0 Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 5:25 pm

  56. Rod should run for office. Running for office is the one talent he has. He’s splendid at it.

He should run for one of those offices that people tend not to pay much attention to. (Like Lt. Governor, clearly. Hmmm….maybe Water Board or some such office.) Just his name on the ballot would get voters — and, let’s be honest, the media — aware of some aspect of that office’s responsibilities and the race to capture it. It could well be Rod Blagojevich’s greatest contribution to civics in our state.

Now, would Illinois voters actually put him back into office? Nah. They couldn’t. Could they?

Comment by Boone Logan Square Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 5:36 pm

  57. for rod: buy a pawn shop. apparently, it’s a great launching pad for your career goal.

for scott: marry the daughter of a powerful chicago alderman. he doesn’t have to like you, he just has to help you in your next run. you can ditch him afterward.

i don’t see the need for either one of them to wait. this is illinois. we’ll pretty much put up with anything…

Comment by bored now Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 7:25 pm

  58. Just can’t help picturing Rod and Scott in business together, a chain of pawn shops (each one near a massage place). Think of the commercials they could do together. Scott holds up a laptop computer for the camera, for instance. Rod leans in close and shouts, “This is bleepin’ golden!!” [Hey, bleepin’ is all he’ll get away with in prime time!] Then Scott sticks his mug in front of the camera: “We’re doing all this for THE PEOPLE!!” Rod chimes in: “Everything we sell, we’re selling it for the good of THE PEOPLE!”

Me, I might even stop in one of their shops someday. Maybe I want to buy my wife a nice senate seat, you know?

Comment by Steve Downstate Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 7:31 pm

  59. sure run in Illinois. Thats where alot of the crooks seem to get in, make a full time job for themselves and retire with full benefits, with free health care for life, never having to worry about getting any of there benefits cut because the state is broke. come on in!

    Comment by thunder1 Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 8:01 pm

  60. Rod: You need to increase your profile. And people think you’re too stuffy, so do something different. Maybe porno. Then when you’re ready to run, cultivate the network of good will you’ve built up among other politicians in the state.

Scott Lee: Quizzical, LLC, is an excellent political strategy firm and our outrageous fees are testimony for the high quality of our work. Simply pay upfront and we can virtually guarantee a winning race.

Comment by Quizzical Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 8:48 pm

  61. Cohen: 50th Ward Alderman (Chicago)–ward has a history of being represented by Jewish politicians (Stone, Carroll). Get incumbent octogenarian and strong supporter Stone to endorse him as his successor.

Blagojevich: No elective office, but here’s a thought about a future job for Blago and another way he could “run” for an “office”. Rod has run the marathon before. He might have the skill set to be effective as director of the Chicago Marathon, whose job description includes event promotion, corporate fundraising and “paying world class athletes (appearance fees) to play”.

Comment by rudy Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 9:35 pm

  62. I see Blago, coming out of prison, running for and being elected mayor of Gary, Indiana. About 2020. Back in prison about 2022.

Comment by Park Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 9:50 pm

  63. My advice to Blago is simply to run as a Dem in Chicago and have Rom raise funds for him and he will most certainly win. If you’re backed by the Dem machine in Chicago you will win, and that’s a fact!

    Comment by CHICAGO-DEM Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 10:20 pm

  64. Donate your money to the Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund. There’s a slim chance it will be put to better use than your campaign.

Comment by Little Egypt Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:03 pm

  65. I have to slightly agree with Park. I don’t see the Illinois political prison revolving door stopping anytime soon.

Comment by Little Egypt Monday, Mar 1, 10 @ 11:05 pm

  66. They don’t need our advice; neither one of them ever lost an election.

Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Mar 2, 10 @ 5:47 am

  67. wordslinger has that right!

Comment by Captain Flume Tuesday, Mar 2, 10 @ 8:45 am

  68. Blago can’t. His conviction in the Senate precludes him from running for any office in Illinois.

Comment by Robo Tuesday, Mar 2, 10 @ 9:50 am

  69. Hopefully, Madigan can eliminate the office they decide to run for.
