Morning shorts

I-Pass chief dumped. No solid explanation offered.

Old Champaign County arrest warrant apparently still on the books for GOP gadfly Andy Martin.

LaHood was apparently against reform before he was for it.

Jack O’Malley contradicts a prosecution witness, testifies that Ryan “never suggested to him that his office shouldn’t investigate state employees accused of corruption.”

The Illinois Campaign for Political reform has posted its questionnaire and a list of signatories of its Code of Campaign Fair Practices.

Topinka hit on contribution.

Duckworth hits the mailboxes this week, Scott already has some pieces in the hopper, but Cegelis doesn’t have money for direct mail.

Remember that old House chair that was for sale on eBay? Nobody bid enough.

Guv wants to reduce nursing shortage.

Laski resigns. Good riddance.

More use of taxpayers’ money for campaigny expenses:

Our daughter is almost 8 months old. She is a healthy and happy little girl. She’s regularly visited the pediatrician and gotten all of her shots as needed.

The other day we received a congratulatory card from Gov. Blagojevich on the birth of our daughter. In the card it also reminded us to have her shots by two months of age. Now this card is 8 months behind in her development. It is pointless because we’ve taken care of all her shots to this point. Not only is it not sincere, it is a waste of tax payers money by wasting resources and time and it is irrelevant to anyone who can afford it and regularly takes their kids to the doctor.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Rep. Ron Stephens square off on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” tonight at 10.

  1. Rich-
Thanks for the reference; we’re pleased with the response to our questionnaire and hope to get the rest of the candidates posted soon. But just to be clear, the Code of Fair Campaign Practices is not an ICPR production — it was created by the General Assembly and is administered by the State Board of Elections. We just encourage candidates to sign it and abide by it.

  2. Rich at this point one can only ask what’s next from he OOG.

It almost seems as if the OOG is untouchable. Despite daily news articles, it continues.

This administration under the leadership of Gov. Rod Blagojevich can say nothing about George Ryan.

It appears as if this administration is worst than the predecessor.

  3. Love the morning shorts. Nice addition.

The hit on the birth congrats card is a bit gratuitous, though.

  4. Will it be a live debate between the two on the Daily Show?

  5. I am having a problem with illiznoise, On Ms. Stanek’s Posts it seems, anything that seems to be in direct disagreement with her stances seems to be deleted, Here is is what I posted on her thread, Take a ride of there, and you will see that it most likely has been deleted for the third time

We can now see why Jill Stanek Did so badly against Renee Kosel,

It’s because she is a totalatrian

I have posted three times and it has been delted three times that this makes the Cook County GOP look Irrevalnt and Extremist regarding this issue,

I also stated that if Ms. Stanek would not have brought this out, that noone would have known

This doesn’t smell rihgt, why are these simple comments being deleted

  6. Just Wondering,
Start your own blog. There is no totalitarinism… if you don’t like someone’s comment, your free to delete… as Jill apparantly is doing with you. Your blog, your moderator, your world….

Comment by Bill Baar Tuesday, Feb 7, 06 @ 3:13 pm

  7. It’s BS Billy, That blog was founded for the free exhange of ideas…

Not for someoen to censor comments

    It’s totaltarianism at it’s finest

When you squelch dissent, you rid yourself of free-speech

  8. “Just Wondering” - The posts at Illinoize are controlled by the individual bloggers themselves. They are free to write what they want and delete what they want. Maybe she deleted your comments because of all the misspellings. lol

  9. FWIW — I’ve had some pretty non-offensive comments swept from that same post - and I’ve read JW’s posts, and then came back to find them deleted.

It’s nonsense. If they don’t want debate, they should stick to posting on their own yes-blogs.

Comment by SenorAnon. Tuesday, Feb 7, 06 @ 4:17 pm

  10. Rich, that is fine upon it’s face

however, when you inquired why Jill receives so many vitrolic comments in the past, you can clearly see why

Now, she has taken to censoring those comments that she does not agree with….

That ain’t right, no matter how you slice it…

Comment by Just wondering Tuesday, Feb 7, 06 @ 4:21 pm

  11. There are plenty of comments on that post which are critical of both Stanek and her position.

Again, I have zero control over what she does with her posts.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Feb 7, 06 @ 4:24 pm

  12. I understand,

    Thanks Rich

Comment by Just wondering Tuesday, Feb 7, 06 @ 4:34 pm

  13. I agree w/ Just wondering. After I pointed out that her last post contained a shout out to the third reich, my comment was deleted, several other people also pointed out her massive offensiveness, and she changed the picture. The post still says “gas il uberliberals this year,” which not offensive by itself, is very offensive when paired w/ her Nazi pic.

What’s up with the massive turn to the right on Illinoize? I’m looking at the all the most recent posts, most of them seem to come from the GOP side. Some of these guys like Bill Baar and Cal Skinner seem to have intelligent things to say, but then we’re stuck w/ anti-abortion nazis and a ronald reagan fanboy. Whats up with that?
