  2. As far as Gidwitz previously putting his money where today, his mouth isn’t, I think we have all made some wrong decisions in our pasts that we wish we could take back. I wish I had “not voted for” George Ryan but I did and I still regret that I got snookered by him. Ron Gidwitz should simply come out publicly and say, “I did a stupid thing years ago by sending money to someone like Judy Barr Topinka, who it turned out, did not represent what I thought she did.” I made a mistake. “This case is closed, King”(spoken by Sargeant Preston of the Yukon Mounted Police to his faithful sled dog King).

  3. Dear Rod:

Thank you for sticking it to the enviromental tree hugging hippies on my campus by reappointing Bergman, this might have been the only highlight of your administration.

  5. I’m not sure if Ron’s attack on JBT is going to backfire, but it’s obvious that he doesn’t think it is.

I just received the latest piece of Judy hate mail. This stuff is definitely not helping her.

More of the same when it’s time for a change, according to Ron.

  8. On LuraLynn Ryan, no I don’t think they are overreacting. It was an obvious stunt and inappropriate attempt to influence the jury by using the death penalty issue in direct conflict with the Judge’s ruling. C’mon, she held a series of press interviews in Dan Webb’s office - of course it was orchestrated!!! I think the prosecutors have every reason to be PO’d and take it to the judge.

Frankly I just think it shows how bad their case is. Look, they’ve trotted out his doorman as a character witness and made wads of cash from low-wage underlings stuffed in envelopes their defense? That’s the best they could do? I think this stunt just showed how much they are grasping at straws. George is going to be spending time in the pokey. The only question is how much…

  9. What a great move by the SunTImes, Now the rest of the political writers don’t need to wake up from their long winter naps.

  10. So, tourism is surging in Illinois. Could someone please explain why then our State Parks are in just about the worse shape they have ever been in? Why budgets have been slashed, personnel laid off and rumors of additional layoffs spreading throughout the DNR? These jewels of land in Illinois have suffered not only from neglect from the Blagojevich administration but outright assault. As urban populations grow and spread these parks will become the last vestiges of open space in many areas. If this Governor is going to work to encourage minority tourism in Illinois shouldn’t the resulting visitors be provided with the best of what Illinois has to offer?
