  1. Biggest Winner: Pat Quinn and Labor
Biggest Loser: Illinois Democratic congressional delegation.

SHOCKED by the result in Il-08

Comment by streeterville Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:12 am

  2. I think Chief Justice Kilbride is quite an impressive win. Look at how Republicans took Rock Island County and Congressman Foster lost - Kilbride was able to get over 60%. MJM can take credit for the win - but to me this race was quite a surprise.

    Comment by 17th Dem Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:13 am

  3. Biggest winner is MJM hands down. He only lost net 5 in the midst of a wave, when everyone was talking about 8 or more and Cross was talking about being Speaker. On top of that he gets the map and Lisa sits in a pretty nice spot. Truly, an up day when it could’ve been much worse.

Comment by Randolph Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:14 am

  4. loser: Illinois Democratic Congressional delegation
winner: Personal Pac and John Mulroe

Comment by Amalia Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:15 am

  5. Oh yeah, and Kilbride. Add that to MJM’s win list.

Comment by Randolph Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:15 am

  6. Not sure. Clearly the republicans made gains in Illinois. But, Dems still control house and senate. Can we get to the point that they work togather? I can only hope.

Comment by Wardley Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:15 am

  7. Winner: Quinn
    Loser: Brady

    Runner-ups
    Winner: Dold
Loser: Scott Lee Cohen and the millions he spent

Comment by Logical Thinker Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:16 am

  8. Speaker Madigan–He kept his crown.

Comment by Louis XVI Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:17 am

  9. Of course its gotta be Joe “Life’s been good to me so far” Walsh.

Comment by Anonymous Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:17 am

  10. ===He only lost net 5 ===

    6

Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:17 am

  11. Randolph, Looks like 7 seats to house Republicans with 2 to be decided. I would say Cross and company did well if you look at the fact that Brady may well lose.

Comment by Wardley Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:18 am

  12. Biggest loser: CBOE for letting their Web site go down at 1 a.m. as votes continue to be counted.

Comment by Barton Lorimor Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:20 am

  13. Republicans are the biggest losers (even the new Congresscritters). 1) The Dems get to redraw the maps. 2) Obama gets to run against Congress in 2 years. Put 1 & 2 together and the Dems have a good shot at taking back most if not all of the lost CD’s. Tom Cross will be shut out for the next 2 years and even more in the cold after that.

Comment by Pot calling kettle Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:21 am

  14. Loser-Bill Brady lost the impossible race
Winner- the only time this word will be associated with him, Joe Walsh. He had little if any institution support and beat a subcommittee chairman

Comment by kj Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:22 am

  15. Biggest winner — Quinn. An absolutely extraordinary result if it holds. And organized labor. Biggest loser — a tie between Blue Dog Dems and serious attempts at reforming the state of Illinois. The corpo-Dems have taken a savage beating here, but Quinn is now joined at the hip with people who have a vested interest in blocking reform.

Comment by Angry Chicagoan Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:23 am

  16. Pot,

No chance. The Dems holding onto the Senate by 1 seat (essentially because of Liebermann) makes all the difference in the world. The GOP “loss” in not taking over the Senate might be the biggest “win” of the night on a national level.

Comment by Logical Thinker Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:23 am

  17. Winner-Jason Plummer’s Dad-kid refused to let anybody see his taxes which would have been for nothing.

Loser-All the pollsters that continually showed this as a 4-8% Brady win

Comment by OurMagician Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:27 am

  18. Loser: Seals campaign staffers
Winners: Seals campaign staffers- get to try again in 2 yrs!!!

Comment by Bakersfield Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:28 am

  19. Biggest winner would be Quinn.

Too bad Hoffman wasn’t on the ticket - that may well have cost Illinois the Obama seat, which would be the biggest loss of the day

Comment by Das Man Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:30 am

  21. Biggest Winner–Michael J. Madigan and his crack staff lead by Mr. Tim Mapes and Will Cousineau.

Biggest loser: Chicago Tribune, Carol Marin and Tom Cross.

Comment by Tom Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:42 am

  22. How about my prediction of Quinn winning by 9,375 votes that was posted last night ?

Comment by illinoispoliticsaintbeanbag Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:44 am

  23. Biggest Winner - If she eeks out a win, Michelle Mussman. Seriously, her opponent heavily outspent and outraised her, she ran in a district that is heavily Republican and only elected a Dem two years ago because he was a long-time GOPer, her predecessor is highly unpopular, and in the midst of what should’ve been a big Republican wave, she’s still holding on to an 700-vote lead with three precincts remaining.

Biggest Loser - Dan Seals. Three strikes and you’re out, buddy.

Comment by TJ Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:45 am

  24. Biggest Winners:

    1. Pat Quinn - after everyone had written him off for dead and with a little help of his week-long running mate, somehow pulls out a win.

    2. Judy Baar Topinka - great comeback and eat your heart out, Kirk, because this lady is the most popular Republican in Illinois.

    3. MJM - Heads he wins, tails you lose. From his own race, to the House, to the DNC cash he got this weekend to the Berrios race, to his daughter’s victory… everything went his way.(btw, like every state legislature except Illinois flipped in the Midwest)

    4. Jesse White - He has to be like a biggest winner emeritus at this point, right?

    Biggest Losers

    1. Forrest Claypool - All that raging against the machine. For nothing.

    2. Lisa Madigan - wonder if she had any second thoughts tonight on saying no to that Senate seat? She’s only getting less popular the longer she sticks around and the more publicity her dad gets.

    3. Dan Seals - Please North Shore Democrats. Find someone, any one else to run next time.

    4. Scott Lee Cohen - No explanation necessary.

Comment by hisgirlfriday Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:46 am

  25. Winner WeAskAmerica for calling the Walsh victory over Bean.

Losers - All media that ignored the 8th district race.

Comment by Cal Skinner Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:48 am

  26. Winners:

Rich Miller! - Its your “Fax” we’re just livin’ in it!
    Quinn/Labor/Precint Captains of the World!
    SEIU
    MJM & Cullerton
    Lisa Madigan
    jbt - Welcome back!

Rutherford - Taking a “hit”, sometimes works out … wish others would follow that model so we wouldn’t have “passes” given out for Lisa and Jesse, but I digress …

The 5 Freshmen Congress-Critters - at least IL felt some of that national wave

    ….

    ….

Kirk - but with that pause … lesser of two evils give “evils” a bad name … actually glad he will be out of IL most of the time…

and .. one amusing comment, that I enjoyed for the comedy, but oh so true:

===Winner-Jason Plummer’s Dad-kid refused to let anybody see his taxes which would have been for nothing.=== AWESOME

    Losers

Brady Campaign Staff - If YOU are on that campaign staff, YOU lost that race for Bill Brady. To the Press Flack(s) that were assigned to be at his side that failed him every time he talked, to the Campaign Management who forgot HOW they won the Primary - on the ground. You were horrible - own it!

Brian Doherty - Believing that Billy Banks was with you … really? Now you know … Sad!

Cross and Radogno - We get 5 new Congressmen and yet you can’t flip either chamber in this “tsunami” as describe by Mark Kirk … Horrible!

Kim & Enriquez - Try … its not too much to ask … TRY … I am embarrased. Our party hung you out to dry, put not one time did I see an effort to get even FREE press … that is why you are in this category.

    Finally

    Jason Plummer

Do something that doesn’t have your Daddy’s name, your Daddy’s check, or your Daddy’s wishes. do something so that when you run, Repubs like me can point to you and say “he is the future, look at all he has done.” Now at 28 and a lost statewide race, dust yourself off, build a resume on your own merits so I have to eat these words next time.

Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 1:50 am

  27. add Patlak to the big winner race. it’s down ballot, but, who knew this guy could win? now there is a Republican in the Board of Review mess.

Comment by Amalia Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:04 am

  28. Winners:

Dold, Walsh and Quinn- For pulling off upsets of various degrees. Also Quinn finally succeed in getting recall through.

    Losers

Brady and Bean campaign staffers for going into cruise mode.
Quinn- Recall did pass, now a very serious effort to use agnaist him could work in a year.
Rahm- Having Quinn in the Governor’s masion, gives Lisa the room to run for Mayor if she wants.

Comment by Lewis Grad Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:08 am

  29. Tribune and the slop writers they pay — for now
do we see more pink slips?

Comment by CircularFiringSquad Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:09 am

  30. Winners: Pat Quinn pulling it out at the last minute
Losers: Anyone who thinks they have a future in Illinois. The same crew that got us in this mess now has to clean it up, and I’ve seen no effort to seriously dig ourselves out of the hole which has to include a competitive climate for business growth while addressing the deficit that can never be overstated.

Comment by Shemp Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:10 am

  31. Winner-Quinn/magical for keeping control of the map
Loser-Durbin for Alexi losing and Harry Reid winning which kept him from becoming majority leader!

Comment by Well.... Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:18 am

  32. Amalia, good call on that Patlak victory. Did Houlihan pay the price from all the negative Berrios stories because of his old man’s name being mixed up in that? Or did the Machine somehow contribute to Houlihan losing as punishment for his old man supporting Claypool?

Comment by hisgirlfriday Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:19 am

  33. Winners:

Pat Quinn/Sheila Simon, Lisa Madigan, Michael Madigan, John Cullerton, Dan Patlak, Joe Walsh (as of this writing, he leads by less than 1,000 votes), Robert Dold, Adam Kinzinger, Randy Hultgren, Bobby Schilling

    Losers:

Any and all individuals in Illinois with a Republican Party title, beginning with Republican State Chairman Pat Brady, and every Republican Party county chairman in Illinois. LOSING the governor’s race to Governor Quinn, who was being given up for dead 3 months ago, and seeing the pathetic voter turnout numbers across the state in Republican-leaning geographies is truly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Where were all of the Republican Party organizations, the committeemen and precinct captains? How is it that Republican voters stayed at home in this election!? The reason Bill Brady lost the governor’s race is due to people taking his victory for granted, which resulted in lazy Republican organizations trying to manufacture ground games.

Oh yes, there were pockets of victories among the Republican winners listed above, yet most of those were to effective campaigning and significant amounts of money, and not the product of a genuine grassroots ground game. For Republicans like Steve Rauschenberger, Ruth Munson and Billie Roth to lose their races must be laid at the door of the local Republican Party organizations at the county and township levels.

Comment by The Oncoming Storm Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:25 am

  34. Biggest Winner: Governor Pat Quinn! Thankfully!!

Comment by diane Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:37 am

  35. Biggest Loser.

    Tony Peraica comes to mind.

    I’ll miss the insanity.

    Biggest Winner.

Pat “Luck o the Irish” Quinn.

It took 30 years, but he finally won a big office in an election.

    Comment by IrishPirate(Bluto) Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:48 am

  36. I forgot Peraica because unless he is yelling or has a torch and pitchfork, I see no reason to remember him …

Good Bye Tony … dunno if I am going to miss you. if I thought about you, i might have an opinion.

Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 2:55 am

  37. r eden martin, lawrence msall, tribune editorial board. please leave the state

Comment by Foster Brooks Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 5:58 am

  38. Winners

    Quinn
    Kirk
    GOP congressional candidates
    Dan Biss
    Lisa Madigan
    Sheila Simon
    MJM

    Losers

    Brady
    Plummer
    Alexi
    Seals
    other Dem congress critters

But the big loser is us. We basically have the same old crew in Springfield dealing with a huge mess they have shown no penchant for solving.

Also Kirk is amazingly lucky. If Hoffman had won the primary he’d have won tonight by 10. I don’t know anyone who liked Alexi, many told me how much they disliked him but were forced to vote for him to try to keep the Senate Dem.

Comment by LouisXIV Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 6:00 am

  39. Biggest winner: House/Senate Dems (GERRYMANDERING 2010). Also recipients of social services to be saved severe cuts from a Brady-bullied budget. (No, that’s not endorsing a budget that raises taxes and doesn’t take on pensions, just saying they’ll fare better w/ Quinn)

Biggest loser: House/Senate Republicans (GERRYMANDERING 2010)

Comment by lakecountydem Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 6:40 am

  40. Biggest winner is Kirk…while people here keep taking pot shots, the reality is that he is the top vote-getter in the state of Illinois.

Biggest Loser is without a doubt Dem congressional delegation… they lost seats that many barely even thought were in play aka Bean.

    Comment by A.B. Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 6:54 am

  41. Winners:
    Quinn
    Kirk

    Losers:
Obama - Stinging rebuke nationwide and in home state
Alexi - Reached way too far, way too soon, and now doesn’t even have the bank to fall back on
Lisa Madigan - If Quinn’s lead holds where does she go? I doubt she’s excited about a mayoral bid against Emanuel. Probably kicking herself for not running for Senate.

Comment by Independent Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 6:59 am

  42. What will happen now to the state budget? will Illinois taxpayers be the biggest losers? Or will the vendors that are not getting paid by the State?

Comment by waitress practicing politics... Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 7:14 am

  43. Unless the point of the Green Party is to shave a couple of points from a couple of high-profile races, they have to be considered losers.

Comment by Chuck Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 7:37 am

  44. Alexi definitely.

Roland Burriss also has something like 700k worth of legal debts from the senate thing.

you would also have to think senator durbin is a loser. He couldn’t carry alexi over the line, reid won so he can’t be top dog and with kirk winning you’d think there’d be a roskam salivating at the chance to retire him in 4 years.

Comment by shore Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 7:39 am

  45. Winners
PQ - So very few thought you could win it
Congressional Republicans - how is it that they managed to “catch the wave”?

    Losers
PQ - Still stuck with a $13 billion deficit and you sold your soul to the devil(s) to win
Bill Brady - if you can’t win this statewide election, you never will
Citizens of this state - if you think the crew you just elected is going to solve the state’s financial mess, you’re seriously deluded

Comment by Regnad Kcin Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 7:41 am

  46. On what planet is Mark Kirk the top vote-getter in Illinois?

I don’t know that there are any really BIG winners or losers yesterday.

Republicans return to Washington in the driver’s seat and Democrats maintain majorities in Springfield.

But as we have all witnessed in recent years, there’s a big difference between majority and “control.”

Quinn, assuming he holds on, Madigan and Cullerton return to Springfield, where the same budget problems await.

In a sane world, Republicans will drop the partisan pretenses and pass a tax increase…maybe Topinka is up for that, we’ll see.

And Speaker Boehner now has to contend with the likes of Congressman Walsh — yikes.

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 7:43 am

  47. Okay — Claypool is a big loser.

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 7:43 am

  48. Almost forgot - Biggest losers may have been pollsters

Comment by Regnad Kcin Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:00 am

  49. ==the reality is that he is the top vote-getter in the state of Illinois. ==

Wow, that’s some bad math. Let’s see:

    White: 2.525 million
    Madigan: 2.336 million
    Topinka: 1.894 million
    Rutherford: 1.782 million
    KIRK: 1.749 million

I second YDD’s comment - Kirk couldn’t even beat out down-ballots Topinka or Rutherford for top vote getter

Comment by Thoughts... Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:01 am

  50. Winner is State of Chicago
Loser is Brady for never establishing himself in Chicago. Without Chicago there is no Governor of Illinois even when you win almost every other county.

Live in Chicago? It is a Democratic world.
Live anywhere but Chicago? It is a GOP world.

With Demicrats running Chicagoans and a Chicagoan for governor, they forget Illinois.
With GOP running a guy from Bloomington, they forgot Chicago.

Say hello to higher taxes for incompetent deadlocked government. Enjoyed the past five years? With the same people in power, we got five more.

Three strikes and you are out Dan Seals. You lost against a GOP wave and lost with a Democratic wave. Forgetaboutit.

Hare did worse than Halvorson, but the money went to Hare’s campaign. With Bean Foster Hare Halvorson looking for work they better get on the phones to line up those job possibilities. Thanks to their work, perhaps they will understand how hard it is to find a job now

Personally, I couldn’t be happier. I did not like either Quinn or Brady, but did want Kirk.As I predicted a month ago, I was going to see the biggest Congressional shift in my lifetime, and I did. Now perhaps the President will come off his pedestal and stop his teleprompter lectures and switch from being a redeemer to becoming a leader. He is an llinoisan who needs a lecture.

Comment by VanillaMan Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:07 am

  51. Winner: Walsh, JBT, and Rutherford
    Loser: Brady, Seals, and Halvorson

Comment by polisciguy Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:15 am

  52. One more…

Loser: The Green Party for losing ballot access status.

Comment by polisciguy Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:16 am

  53. Winner - Quinn, in spite of the fact that he has demonstrated he has no idea how to be governor.
Losers - 1.Obama, the tide has turned, his direction is not what America wants. 2. the Illinois Republican Party, if you can’t gain control under these circumstances, it ain’t gonna happen for quite a while.

Comment by One of the 35 Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:16 am

  54. Winners:

    MJM
    The Chicago Machine
GOP Chairman Pat Brady for delivering the federal offices to the GOP

    Losers:

    Bill Brady
Radogno, Cross, HRO, etc. for betting blocked out of Springfield in a massive wave year.

**Not to derail the thread, but I wasn’t around back in 2000 & 2001. I keep hearing conflicting information RE: redistricting back then. I thought Ryan was the governor and Pate Philip was in control of the senate. Doesn’t that mean the current map is GOP drawn? But I also keep hearing well-informed politicos that the CURRENT map is actually a Madigan creation. If that’s so, then how is it that the map would get THAT more tilted than it already is?

Comment by John Galt Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:17 am

  55. JG, the winner was chosen out of a hat.

Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:25 am

  56. polisciguy: How about the Bean seat? Bean loses by 600, Green Party siphons off 6000.

Other Big Losers behind the headlines:

Ed Murnane. Not only wastes hundreds of thousands of dollars only to be repudiated, but manages to completely trash the Illinois Civil Justice League’s reputation in the process. Every race Murnane touches moving forward will invite headlines about his smear tactics.

Tom Cross? I dunno. House Republicans pick up a few seats, but not what they should have, and they are not pro-choice moderate Republicans. Cross could lose a well-organized fight for minority leader.

Cullerton and the Senate Dems are big winners in my book. With so much supposedly in play, they barely got scratched.

I do think that the Democratic Party is looking at a rebuilding year…and that’s probably good for them in the long-run. While I expect the GOP to become more Tea Partyish in Illinois, expect the Democrats to become more decentralized and Grassroots.

Look for Democrats to move away from a partisan agenda and back to Kitchen Table issues: Family and Medical Leave, foreclosure reform, more “small” bills and local issues.

Prognosis for a tax increase? Hard to say. Most folks on both sides privately admit its necessary and inevitable, and I don’t think the Tribune and GOP can continue to stonewall with ridiculous demands that we retroactively reduce the retirement benefits of current teachers, police and firefighters.

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:27 am

  57. rich, your winners and losers?

Comment by shore Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:29 am

  58. Biggest winner: Karl Rove

Biggest losers: Kirk & Dold who are now highly in debt to Rove, who now owns them.

    Comment by Jack S. Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:29 am

  59. Biggest Winner - Kilbride survived a brutal campaign against an entity, not an opponent.

Biggest Loser - Bean. Just didn’t see that one coming.

Comment by Stones Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:34 am

  60. Winners- Quinn who still won with all the supposed campaign disfunction and drama, MJM, Daniel Biss

Losers- Bean and those who ignored this race, Seals Campaign staff and DCCC

Comment by Politicalady Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:47 am

  61. Winner: Tom Kilbride. Showed that on occasion, rationality can win out over a well-funded smear campaign.
Loser: Phil Hare. Demonstrated that a congressional district that was gerrymandered to ensure Lane Evans was always re-elected wasn’t enough to keep him in the job.

Comment by Aldyth Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:49 am

  62. ==
JG, the winner was chosen out of a hat.
    ==

Thanks. If that’s the case and it was a D that was pulled out of a hat, then I’d suspect the map would stand to go more in favor of the D’s in a marginal fashion, but not a radical revision as some R’s fear.

Still, I see this race as being totally bipolar for Illinois. The federal races vs. the state races.

Comment by John Galt Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 8:52 am

  63. Biggest Loser: Tom Cross, the man who will never be speaker
Biggist Winner: Quinn, who beat the handicappers who were analyzing his defeat before the votes were cast.

Comment by reformer Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:03 am

  64. Biggest winner–Quinn. His impressive victory, along with that of Sen. Reid in Nevada, partially stemmed an overwhelming Republican tide, and prevented 2010 from becoming another 1994.

    Biggest loser–Illinois Congressional delegation.

Comment by Quiet Sage Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:03 am

  65. Winners: Mike Madigan. Pat Quinn.

Losers: Illinois taxpayers, especially in Cook County….electing Joseph Berrios????

Dan Seals…dude, give it up. Get a real job.

    Anyone associated with Brady’s campaign.

Tom Cross. Dear House GOP: Plesae elect a new leader.

Comment by Joliet Jackhammers, RIP Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:05 am

  66. the problem for cross is that every other big 10 state-ohio,pa,indiana, wisconsin, michigan. The gop now has BOTH houses of the legislature and in none of those states was the democrat governor indicted.

Comment by shore Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:05 am

  67. Winners: Quinn, “The Machine” both city wide and state wide, and Joe Walsh.

Loser: Brady, Bean, and the State of Illinois which will be shown more of the same of what we have seen over the last 8 years.

    Personal Likes/Dislikes of the Night:

Likes: Kirk, Dold,Walsh, Historic Republican Gains in Congress, Important Republican Gains in various Governor Elections.

Dislikes: Quinn (al though, despite the horrific tax increase we will see, Brady was not head over heels better), and Berrios-This gives me and my fiance more incentive to work as hard as possible to move out of Cook and into McHenry County. The property taxer in Cook are horrific with no change in sight!

    Comment by ChrisChicago82-Independent Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:16 am

  68. I’m sorry… I forgot one other loser… Dan Seals. For the love of God… please stop running!!!

    Comment by ChrisChicago82-Independent Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:20 am

  69. Winner - Ben Nuckels. Remember that hiring by Quinn?

Comment by NorthsideDem Wednesday, Nov 3, 10 @ 9:43 am

  70. Rich Miller mocked those who questioned the Rasmussen polls in August and september which all but gave Brady the election. So I say Rich is a loser in this election along with Claypool and Brady.

  71. I agree Old Timer…Rich let his personal bias against Quinn get in the way of his political judgement…and BTW Miller, I told you that the election would come down to the absentee ballots in Cook County…will you ever eat humble pie? I doubt it…not your style…

  72. Biggest winners are Mark Kirk and Illinois Republican US House winners. Biggest losers are Chicago Tribune, Andy Shaw, Carol Marin, and SouthTown reporter Kristen McQuery. Never have I seen such scathing and biased reporting on Mike Madigan and Joe Berrios. Come on, just because they are old time politicians and have power does not make them bad people. The average reader would almost think these guys served jail time or were about to get indicted. Whatever happened to real reporting without an agenda. It makes a lot of folks like me vote for them because people are sick and tired of the propaganda. They need to do some real reporting on issues like home foreclosures, the unemployed, and the homeless. Your educated citizen would appreciate that.

  73. I agree emyjo. Kass is especially sickening. He tries to mix in humor and comes off even worse. He was over the top last night on CLTV in his analysis.

  74. Winners-

Mark Kirk-Unconventional win to say the least- but a win and an exclamation mark to Durbin and BHO.

    Cedra Crenshaw- Wow!

Bob Enriquez and Steve Kim for sticking your necks out there for the team with NO support.

Chicago Dems Ground game- Took it to the streets in the final days and pulled it off. Hats off.

Ali G (only because of his concession speach) going out with style.

Bill Brady- good guy with business mindset and no where as scary as the demalibs made him out to be.

    Losers:

@ Oswego Willy- (well said)The Brady Campaign- for changing their approach from the primary - Zero ground game, all high priced commercials (ran out of $$$?) and not looking at the game films from the primary- you only won by

  76. Quinn and Brady are too easy.

The biggest winner is Mike Madigan. He and his team performed very well in a bad year with the “mo” against the Dems. The “firewall” worked. Madigan still has enough seats to push controversial legislation through his chamber.

The biggest loser is Tom Cross. He needs to go. Six seats is good - but not when you were down by 22 and in the midst of the “tsunami”. Dan Brady would make for a good House GOP leader.

  77. Biggest Loser is Tom Cross & Skip Saviano, those individuals that have been attending transition team meetings for the last three weeks in Bloomington, those persons in the 98th legislative district that won’t get crap out of IDOT.
Biggest Winner - MJM, Cullerton, Organized Labor (minus IFT)and the Trial Lawyers
