John Dudlak: It was difficult to continue manufacturing in the facility we were at and we were approached by WISPARK, which is south of Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Boguslaw Duczek: It was terrible. I talked to my wife. I talked to kids. I say, oh, boy. Oh, boy. If they move, what are we going to do?
Dudlak: I get a call from Rahm and he is just irate. He says, ‘I can’t believe that this is going on. How in the world could a 100 year old Chicago company move to WISPARK? You know’
And he said, “I’m going to look into this thing. It’s just not right.”
What he did was he made the city and the state and the developer see the logic of keeping employees in Chicago.
Delfin Perez: It surprise me you know because we’re not talking about 200 and 500 people, just about 30, 30 something people.
And he did a great job, so that we’d be able to stay in Chicago.
Dudlak: It’s just that he wants to do what’s right…
And he will just latch on to it and he’ll pursue it and pursue it and get it done. I wish more people had that kind of tenacity.

* Poll shows Rahm Emanuel as front-runner: The Chicago Retail Merchants Association poll of 2,255 voters taken Monday — the last day candidates could file to run for mayor —finds Emanuel leading a crowded field with support from 39 percent of respondents. Former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun came in a distant second with support from 12 percent of those polled. Former Chicago schools chief Gery Chico had 9 percent; Congressman Danny Davis, 7 percent; City Clerk Miguel Del Valle and Rev. James Meeks, 5 percent each; and outgoing U.S. Sen. Roland Burris, 2 percent.
* Petitions for Mayor Offer First Clues of Campaign: The Chicago News Cooperative’s review of all of the nearly 5,300 petitions for the Emanuel campaign found that a man from Mundelein, which is almost 40 miles from City Hall, circulated more signature pages than any other supporter. The analysis found that 4 of Mr. Emanuel’s top 6 circulators and 7 of his 20 busiest operatives wrote in home addresses for themselves outside Chicago at the bottom of the sworn affidavits that they had asked Chicago voters to sign. Almost 25 percent of the petition pages for Mr. Emanuel were circulated by campaign workers who do not live in Chicago, the analysis found.

Its a good commercial.
And money well-spent, since very few people can name a single accomplishment of Rahm’s while in Congress.
When this ad campaign is over, we’ll all be able to name one.

I got to give credit to Rahms camp they let some one else, not Rahm, do the talking. The last commercial with Rahm talking stunk! Rahms voice does not match his reputation, people hear that he’s this tough sharp elbowed fighter and then he talks and his soft high pitched voice comes on and the whole facade comes crashing down.

Solid commercial, very positive - but like all commercials there is not much to tell if its true or not.
There is a reason why Rahm is leading in the polls and the commercial points to the direction.

This mayoral election is going to be a battle. I admit ignorance on several candidates but the one thing I see as a positive for Emanuel is about the only positive I saw with Daley and that is his ability to deal with business groups and possibly keep Chicago as a semi business friendly city. Im not sure how Braun, Chico or Meeks would make big business feel.

What I find most interesting is that Rahm’s at 39%, the Others total 40%, and 21% are undecided.
This is consistent with the Teamsters poll, which found that the only two candidates with higher negatives than Rahm were Carol Mosely Braun and Senator Meeks.
The two candidates with the lowest negatives were Chicago and DelValle…making both strong contenders for the anti-Rahm vote, if they can raise the money necessary to implement a strong, positive message campaign.

Rahm’s team should also be given credit for trying to redefine one of his greatest liabilities — his personality — as an asset.
“Tenacious” is not the first adjective that comes to mind when most folks think of Rahm.

B+ Rahm the tenacious little terrier. Actually, I think it’s a good theme for him. I like very much that the ad mentioned it was only a few dozen jobs–not hundreds. That honesty gave the ad more credibility than many of the exaggerated “jobs” ads we saw for the election earlier this month. EVERY job is important to somebody these days.

Slick ad, but difficult to buy.
How did rahm get involved? He has no authority in the state of il or wi.
Soft and fuzzy, leaves more questions than answers. Should all business get the same break, whatever it is…?

So 39% choose Rahm. Why, then, do a handful of people want Rahm off the ballot? Why do they want to deny the people the right to chose who the the candidate they prefer? I don’t think it is because they believe Braun is the better choice.

Hey Miguel, it already exists! perhaps the atmosphere is not to your liking, with the control of the Mell and Burke types, but your own materials refer to an LRB. maybe you miss the old days in Springfield.

Ummmmm….I think its a non-partisan primary, but nice try on the ‘Republican Devil’ angle.
Walter’s been a s*** disturber for years, but then so are a lot of pretty good attorneys….like Shakman? Still, good idea to have a more stable co-plaintiff on the suit.
I think there’s a better than 50% chance that Rahm gets bounced. Don’t know what the Plan B is for the in crowd. ‘has resided in’, is a pretty active statement. Doesn’t seem to mean ‘domicile’ or ‘resident of’. I think this one gets decided by a dictionary definition of ‘reside’…like, ‘being there’. At this point, I think Meeks is Mayor.

When are the Democrats going to stop worshiping at the false altar of free trade? Probably when they’re not sellouts to Big Money.
The “American” corporations will tell you that we can’t risk a trade war. As they sit on their record profits, much of it made overseas, I have news for you: outside of agriculture, we’ve already lost the trade war.
China ships us their plastic junk, and the ships deadhead back.
Reagan saved Harley-Davidson by banning big Japanese motorcycles. He scared the Asian automakers so much that they built plants in the U.S. Now, Hyundai is more of an American automaker than Ford.
Hey Democrats, worried about jobs? Go to rehab on the Wall Street money and start standing up for the Main Street businessman.

With one day left for objections to be filed, Emanuel has been challenged by twenty-one individual objectors. He may be en route to setting a course record that no candidate wants.
I cannot predict how the courts will rule on the Emanuel case (I suspect that whatever the electoral board decides will be appealed), but this could be a fairly serious legal case that will probably end up being published as a case precedent on residency qualifications.

Yellow Dog is on to it…but the issue being redefined is not his personality, it’s his alleged “heavy-handed” ownership/push for NAFTA being adopted, with all it’s subsequent angst from organized labor…many still argue that NAFTA sent US dollars across our borders with many jobs following…That issue and this ad presents an opening for his opponents, yet none have made the case in the heavy-labored city of Chicago. A bit of inoculation is the ads goal/campaign’s effort; but they have now raised the jobs issue. Which opponent will be shrewd enough to pounce?!?

I thought the add was put together well. The fact that he went to bat for a small business should resignate with voters. Shows compassion for the regular working person.
