  1. If the Senate Republican’s spent as much time introducing legislation to cut the budget as they did holding press conferences about cutting the budget, they might actually cut the budget. I know the Senate Dem’s are a wild bunch right now, but I think there are some moderates who would actually work with them if they ever got serious.

    I do dig the hog.

  2. Looks like McCarter is serious about changing the subject from getting punched/poked/shoved by Jacobs.

I guess if he doesn’t have the nerve to ride a horse through the Capitol, then dragging a fully intact, roasted hog into the Blue Room isn’t a bad effort.

Not sure he looks any less goofy or more manly than he did a few weeks ago …

  3. Cross said “Belly up” - did he learn that term from his friend who is on trial pending conviction . . .

  4. Now that’s some real news happening at the Capitol. I’m stunned.
I didn’t think the SGOPs could actually cut anything. But there it is, Senator McCarter putting a knife to a hog.
Can’t wait for the SGOPs to move on from roasted farm animals to real-life budgets.

  5. Did Sen. McCarter introduce any legislation to make more budget cuts? He can do that if he’s serious.

  6. I wonder how much money the State would save if the legislators took Amtrak instead of the State run planes.

  7. Looks like another pork belly project (rimshot)… McCarter is bringing home the bacon to his constituents (rimshot)…Thank you Reno, you’ve been great. Please tip your servers.

  8. Anyone with knowledge care to spell out the difference here?

SB1633 allows payment of up to $1.3 billion in Medicaid bills by June 30th, to get an extra $70-75 million in enhanced federal match #twill–ILGOP

Talked to Springfield media today about prioritizing Medicaid bills to take advantage of an extra $90 - $100 million from the feds #twill

  9. Well Senator McCarter doesn’t keep kosher. That has to be the weirdest stunt I have seen from Springfield in a long time. Wow.

  10. Hmm, a ~3% pay cut.

    Didn’t see that one coming.

  11. RPM,
Second weirdest I’ve seen. Tops was the Natural Law Party trying to fly in the BlueRoom. No YouTube from that 90s event but it went something like this:

  12. “A quick look at this last session and you can find numerous bills where Sen. McCarter’s calling (to speak out on corruption and conflicts of interests) didn’t seem to manifest itself on the senate floor. Take SB0107, a bill that lowers the intrastate switched access rates and limits the Illinois Commerce Commissions regulation powers in regards to telephone and internet service deliveries. This bill was sponsored by…Sen. Mc Carter… without a single mention of the thousands of dollars Sen. McCarter received from a local St. Jacob telephone and internet service provider who stands to benefit from the bill’s passage. Apparently Sen. McCarter only finds the lack of conflict of interest disclosures troubling when it isn’t him sponsoring.”
