Amy Jacobson’s changing story

Posted in:

* This is what Chicago-based WIND radio co-host Amy Jacobson told Michael Sneed about an encounter she witnessed between presidential candidate Herman Cain and one of his accusers, the Chicago-area’s Sharon Bialek

They hugged each other backstage in a full embrace like old friends.

She grabbed his arm and whispered in his left ear.

She kept talking as he bent to listen, and he kept saying “Uh, huh. Uh, huh.”

Huh?

“I don’t know if what she was giving him was a sucker punch, but he didn’t put his arm down while she was talking to him,” said the Sneed source. […]

“It looked sort of flirtatious,” said Jacobson. “I mean they were hugging. But she could have been giving him the kiss of death for all I know. I had no idea what they were talking about, but she was inches from his ear.”

* But then Jacobson switched her story and told the Daily Herald something different

“She was determined to talk to him and she got what she wanted,” Jacobson said, saying it “looked like a tense few minutes. She was talking and he was listening.”

Yet, Jacobson also said Bialek embraced Cain, briefly. “She hugged him. He did not hug her back.”

* And Jacobson told Glenn Beck something different

Jacobson said Bialek “bum rushed” her to get to Cain while backstage at the event. That led to what she described as an intense encounter that you could “cut with a knife.” She said Bialek had Cain’s ear for two to three minutes, and after it was over, Bialek “stormed” off. That has led Jacobsen to conclude that Bialek was, in fact, confronting Cain about the alleged encounter.

* And here’s what Jacobson told CNN about the “hug”

“It was more like she put her arms around him. She didn’t corner him, but I can use the basketball term, boxed him out,” Jacobson said of the encounter.

* Ms. Jacobson has her own, um, history, of course.

  3. If only someone had caught the moment with a camera, oh yeah Jacobson is not a huge fan of that.

  4. It coulda been one of those Mike Madigan-Rod Blagojevich kinda hugs. That certainly cleared things up.

  5. So how does Sneed feel now that she called Cain a liar in her column based on what Amy told her? I don’t know the truth about what happened but neither does Sneed.

  6. Ah, Amy, good luck with that whole credibility thing.

  7. Amy’s desperate to get back to The Show. In the worst way.

Sneed will have to dust off her “dumber than a box of rocks award.”

  11. These are all very entertaining stories. Too bad they’re completely contradictory.

Sorry - but anyone (ahem Sneed) who gives Amy Jacobsen credibility without some independent verification is asking for trouble. She’s not exactly the most credible source and her judgment, as we all know, if beyond suspect.

  13. Unless Amy Jacobson was at a swim-date with the Accuser, Herman Cain, or both, it’s difficult for me to know which story is true.

Bob Woodward did his best work in a parking garage, Amy is spot-on when invited to swim dates … so when the story begins, “I was invited for a swim date, on my day off …” then I know she has the story.

  14. Wow, Rich, you just pwned Jacobson. You should ask her to comment on your post - see if she has a 5th version of events.

  16. Hug-Gate?

Should we read anything into an alleged “hug” by Herman Cain and his accuser?

To Wit: Cain was spotting hugging his accuser.

Upshot: this is big news that the two were seen together.

Downshot: the “witness” sees what her audience wants to hear.

Buckshot: this one “witness” has more versions of this hug then there are versions of the Bible.

Sneedless to say, we are all a bit confused.

Me thinks a “dip in the pool” will cool this story off.

  18. And this took place near whose swimming pool?

Could be worse, I suppose. The witness could be Stuart Levine.

  19. Amy who?

Comment by Northsider Friday, Nov 11, 11 @ 10:58 am

  20. distraction. yes, it could prove Cain wrong that he did not recognize her if Amy provides the information. but the bottom line on sexual harassment is that the perps with power regard the victims as small and meaningless. if it were just one accuser, this distraction might have weight.

it’s not he said, she said. it’s he said, she said, she said, she said, she said.

  21. LOL. Sneed, Jacobson, and Allred all involved with the same story. What could possibly go wrong?

At an event, I once had a brief personal verbal encounter with Ernie Banks whom I had long admired from afar but had never met before. We spoke briefly into each other’s ears because the room was so noisy. I had my picture taken with Ernie Banks. We were both smiling and he had his arm around my shoulder in the picture which I still have. I wonder how all that might have been interpreted by the eagle eyed Ms. Jacobson.

Comment by Responsa Friday, Nov 11, 11 @ 11:03 am

  22. And we wonder why Jacobson, can’t be taken seriously.WIND should have hired Walter
    Jacobson instead of Amy.

Comment by mokenavince Friday, Nov 11, 11 @ 11:09 am

  23. There’s another problem with Amy’s version. She has consistently said that Bialek met with Cain BEFORE he spoke. Yet Bialek has consistently claimed that she met with Cain AFTER he spoke. They cannot both be right. Perhaps neither is.

She could definitely use some media training.
