Morning Christmas Video: Happy Christmas from the Family

Posted in:

* My favorite Christmas song is about how love overcomes holiday family chaos

He threw a breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night, O’ Silent Night, O’ Holy Night

  1. I love this song. I remember playing it for my sister. Her first comment, “Spooky. It’s like he was there at grandma’s when we were kids.” Happy Holidays!

It’s the greatest (and one of the only) working class Christmas song ever written.

  3. A favorite of mine too, Rich. Hard to go wrong with any of the REK songs from his Sugar Hill days.

The Kinks’ “Father Christmas” and Pogues’ “Fairytale of New York” come to mind, but I prefer Keen’s song.

  4. BEST xmas song ever. And lemme tell ya, if ya haven’t seen REK in person, do yourself a favor and go sometime. And if you make it for a Christmas show (he generally starts breaking this out after labor day), then you’re in for a real hootenanny.

  5. Sounds more like a song about how alcohol overcomes holiday family chaos, but I can relate.

  6. This one and Alice’s Restaurant are my “must hear” holiday songs. Best wishes to all!

  7. Love the REK, but have to put in a vote for “Daddy’s Drinking up Our Christmas” by Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen. Happy Holidays to all the Capitolfax family from way down in Egypt.

  8. John Prine’s “Silent Night All Day Long” isn’t bad either.

  9. *giggles* This one has been one of my favorites, Rich, ever since you posted it a while back. Just sent an email to family members to let them know I’m bringing the extension cord and can of fake snow.

Merry Christmas To All From The Famoooooleeeeee!
